Maria spent the morning reviewing everything she knew so far, trying to make sense of the tangled web of lies, half-truths, and suspicions. As she stared at Emily's photograph, Maria sat at her kitchen table, the gray light filtering through the window and casting long shadows across the room. She was deep in thought, her eyes scanning the photographs and notes she had accumulated. The cryptic message, "The past never dies," lingered in her mind, adding another layer to the mystery of Emily's disappearance. Her coffee had gone cold. She focused on the photo of Emily, the note from the barn, and the various statements she had gathered. The web of suspects As Maria stared at the evidence laid out before her,

David: Though shaken and involved in sticky situations with Lucas, he was now under police protection after revealing crucial information. He was cooperating with the authorities, so he was not an immediate threat, but he would have to face the consequences of his past actions But he did not kill Emily.

Lucas: The antagonist connected to the underbelly of their past, he was now in custody for assault and blackmail. His nefarious reach had evidently terrified David and the group, but he did not kill Emily , Maria felt relief knowing he couldn't hurt her—or anyone else.

Jessica, Sarah, Tom, Victoria, Andrew and Jake: They all had pieces of the puzzle. Their actions that night were strange but everyone of them said that they don't know what happend with Emily.

she rummaged through her files, her fingers trembling as she rifled through Emily's belongings. After a few moments, she found it—a short, handwritten note tucked in the back of Emily's journal:

"April 20th, Dear Diary,

Things are getting complicated. I feel the pressure from the group, especially from Jessica and David. They just don't get it. Tomorrow is Sarah's birthday party, and I'm dreading it. I don't want to bring any bad energy. But I can sense tension, and it's bothering me. David just doesn't seem like himself lately... something's off."

David had changed so drastically that night, but he David did not kill her Maria said inside her head. And Lucas did not do it than who did?

''I went to sit on the sofa and put my head down closed my eyes. And tried to rember that night.''

''my eyes were still tired from not having enough sleep, everything I knew so far was going around in my head, sleep suddenly took over and the thoughts took me back to that moment, what happened and why, I don't know anything anymore. I was sleep and thinking at the same time.'' the dream brought me back and replayed in my head

In my half-sleeping state, the shadows of the past began to converge, swirling around me like a vortex drawing me deeper into the recesses of my mind. My dreams became vivid scenes set against a backdrop of haunting familiarity—the night Emily disappeared replaying like a fractured film reel.

I felt a tug at my consciousness as fragments of that evening surfaced. I was at Sarah's party—music blaring, laughter dancing in the air—until it wasn't. The joy morphed into tension, and I could see flashes of Emily's worried face, of whispered conversations that drifted past like ghostly echoes.

The Argument

I could hear it—David and Emily arguing in the dimly lit corner of the cabin, the sounds muffled by the drumming of music, yet sharp enough to pierce through the haze of drunken laughter. What were they fighting about? It felt as if the energy had shifted in the room and all eyes were drawn towards them, curiosity piqued. I remembered whispering to Jessica, "Should we intervene?" but we hesitated, unsure of how to step into their conflict.
