Brittany nodded, her heart racing with anticipation and trepidation as Edward led her through the bustling streets of Chicago to his apartment. As they approached the sleek high-rise building, Brittany couldn't help but marvel at the elegance and sophistication of Edward's surroundings.

Determined to convince Brittany of his true nature, Edward escorted her to his upscale apartment in the heart of Chicago. The building's sleek exterior belied the luxury within, and as they entered, Brittany was greeted by a spacious and tastefully decorated living space.

Stepping inside the luxurious apartment, Brittany's breath caught in her throat at the sight before her. The living space was a harmonious blend of modern design and cozy comfort, with plush furnishings and tasteful decor adorning every corner. A soft glow emanated from chic light fixtures, casting a warm ambiance throughout the room.

"This is my laboratory." he said, hesitating for a moment before opening the door. Brittany could sense a hint of embarrassment in his voice as they stepped inside.

Edward led Brittany into his laboratory, a space that was both functional and awe-inspiring. Gleaming stainless-steel surfaces housed state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology, evidence of Edward's scientific prowess and dedication to his research. Beakers and test tubes lined the countertops, each one a testament to the meticulous experiments that took place within these walls.

Nearby, a sleek stainless-steel fridge stood sentinel, its contents carefully organized and labeled. Rows of donated blood bags from local hospitals awaited Edward's consumption, a stark reminder of the unique dietary requirements that set him apart from ordinary humans. Brittany's eyes widened, but she remained silent.

As Brittany took in the sight of Edward's artwork adorning the walls, she felt a pang of wonder and admiration. Each piece was a masterpiece, a reflection of Edward's talent and his deep connection to the natural world. Among them were breathtaking landscapes from his time in the redwood forests of Northern California, where he had found solace and inspiration amidst the beauty of nature.

"These are incredible," Brittany said, pausing to admire a particularly striking piece. "You painted these?"

Edward nodded. "Yes. The redwood forests of my home, nature has always help me find balance."

Stepping out onto the balcony, Brittany was greeted by a breathtaking view of the Chicago skyline stretching out before her. The city lights twinkled like stars in the night sky, casting a mesmerizing glow over the bustling metropolis. She couldn't help but feel a sense of awe wash over her at the sight.

"This doesn't feel real," Brittany murmured to herself, her voice barely above a whisper. "Here I am in this beautiful apartment overlooking Chicago, with an amazing handsome man, who just told me he is a vampire." She turned around to face Edward, her expression a mix of wonder and sadness. "Why... did you choose me?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "I mean...You know how I feel about you. Are you planning to..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Edward interrupted her with a firm denial. "NO!" he exclaimed, his voice cutting through the night air. "I told you I would never harm you, Brittany. I mean that." He stepped closer to her, his eyes filled with sincerity. "I love you more than anything in this world, and I would do anything to keep you safe."

Brittany felt her heart flutter at his words, a wave of warmth washing over her despite the chill in the air. She reached out to touch his hand, her fingers trembling slightly with emotion. "But why me, Edward?" she persisted, her gaze searching his for answers. "What made you choose to reveal your secret to me?"
