The journey had started.

It had been a few hours, in fact, since they left the clearing. Gigi and Bosco sat atop Crystal and Daya respectively, enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature while the wolves walked along.

They had all come to the agreement that during the day, while they traveled, Daya and Crystal would stay in their wolf forms in order to carry all of their stuff and be able to know where they were supposed to go, thanks to the call that pulled at their chests. And with their heightened senses, they could keep a keen ear out for any troubles that may arise. It also helped conserve the energy of all of them - the wolves held more strength and stamina, and Gigi and Bosco didn't have to walk for hours, days, on end.

At night, Crystal and Daya would return to their human forms to help set up camp and go to sleep, and to get a break from being a wolf. If they stay in their wolf forms for too long, as Daya had once found out on accident, their human traits in the werewolves were harder to find, making them more dog-ish. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing though - it didn't impair their ability to change back, it just made the fact that they should change back less important to the wolf's mind.

As the hours passed and the sun's light died out, Gigi and Bosco were more than relieved to stop for the night. The ride was nice and all, but after the first few hours, it got very boring. Small talk between the two didn't last long, and without Crystal and Daya's banter, it was a very quiet day.

When the bags of supplies were removed from their flanks, Crystal and Daya transformed back into humans, and were greeted warmly by their girlfriends.

Setting up camp was lively and loud, Crystal and Daya happy to be able to talk to others rather than just themselves. Being stuck in their own heads all day was easy to get sick of.

When the two tents were stood and a fire was going to cook their canned dinner, the two couples had broken off slightly to have their own time together.

Crystal and Gigi sat on a blanket they had spread out, close enough to the fire to feel its warmth but not too close to get too hot. Crystal sat partially on Gigi's lap, arms looped around her neck and head rested on her shoulder. Gigi held Crystal close while keeping them both sitting upright - the way Crystal was sitting on her didn't make the most sense, but she wasn't about to ask her to move. Crystal played with the collar of Gigi's shirt and hummed, watching the orange glow of the fire dance on her girlfriend's smooth skin.

Daya, laying on a different blanket with Bosco at her side staring up at the stars, tried her best to tune out her sister's humming, as they were just sat at opposite sides of the fire. Daya thought Crystal's singing voice was atrocious; how Gigi found comfort in it - let alone liked it - was beyond her.

Ignoring the crackly tune, Daya focused on the stars, reaching her arm up and pointing out the constellations she could find for Bosco to see. She would point out wrong patterns, and Bosco would correct her by tracing the paths of the correct constellations.

After eating dinner and the fire was thoroughly put out, they split off into their tents after quiet goodnights.

Zipping the cloth closed, Crystal sighed and fell back onto her sleeping bag, Gigi crawling over to her more slowly. With a swift peck on the lips for goodnight, Crystal immediately fell asleep, tired from walking all day. Gigi chuckled softly and brushed away a few strands of hair from her girlfriend's face before getting comfy next to her and closing her eyes. Despite having barely moved all day, she was still tired, and fell asleep fairly quickly.
