Chapter 23: A Break

A/N: This is an upload from 2 years ago an is UNEDITED.

The ceiling...it's...it's white.

That was the most enthralling thought Bell had the entire 5 mins that he had been awake for. After coming back from the long long dungeon expedition, he regrettably could not eat. His appetite had been wrecked by constant fighting and also the fact that he couldn't keep anything he ate in his gut for longer than half an hour.

Drinks were fine more or less, but no food could enter his stomach unless he had taken anti-vomiting potions. A true gift of nature that Naaza managed to cook up using some wacky ingredients that Bell would rather not know about.

If it worked, it's fine.

Looking to his right he spotted locks of green hair. The silky smooth green hair that smelled like the forest drew him in. As he shifted closer to his beloved and hugged her gently, to not wake her up.

Though she did stir, Riveria didn't wake thankfully. It seemed that waiting for Bell ended up becoming rather tiring for her, even as an early bird she didn't wake even though it was well past 8 am.

But Bell couldn't find it within himself to criticise her. He enjoyed every single of the fact that she was within arms reach.

Not that it's not appealing, but spending a little shy of half a month with a raging minotaur with nothing but thoughts of killing you in its head, really makes you feel lonely and perhaps even question your own sanity.

Regardless of that, Bell felt as if his love for Riveria were tested, and renewed even further.

'Gods I sound so obsessed.' He silently chuckled to himself. Looking down he gazed upon the sleeping face of the princess he adored so much. How one could so dignified yet innocent at the same time was beyond him, but it was a sight he would cherish. Positioning himself so that her head was just below his head, he went back to sleep, whilst cradling her.

Riveria POV

...

I can't get up.

See Riveria by now was fully awake. The problem was that Bell...wasn't.

Even worser still, he was practically holding her tightly, as unintentional it can be. Winter had just about come around, the city was chilly. The heat radiating from his body was soothing, she felt like a delicate flower. She would gladly welcome it, had she not been late already. But it did feel so right.

Momentarily she forgot her position as the second in command of the Loki familia and became simply Riveria Llos Alf. The wife of Bell Cranel. Even though she chose to keep her surname, it didn't make things any different.

Smiling in delight, she slowly turned to face him. Although she was perma-locked to staring at his throat due to their positioning right now, she returned his hold on her.

Bell had a habit of sleeping without a shirt (thankfully wearing pants.) And if all it took to keep him warm in the harsh winter was her hold she would gladly do so, while bearing the blush of embarrassment.

'Gods I am so overprotective.' She chuckled but nestled herself closer to him. Using his rhythmic heartbeat to slowly fall back asleep. Or that's what she wanted to do but what she ended up hearing was

"Pound. Pound. Pound. Pound. Pound."

In quick succession, Bell's heart rate was through the roof. Now unless Bell was truly a rabbit that needed a very high heart rate to keep itself warm or...
