"You're joking." Hanji laughed as I told her what I had in mind. The tip of her nose nuzzled into my chest as her fingers grabbed my shirt. "I would've thought you wanted to enroll in the police academy."
"Why that?"
"Your physique tells me you should be working a very... physical job. Not some guy working in a tea shop. And why specifically tea? You work at a coffee place. It doesn't make any sense." Hanji giggled as she rested on my chest and I wrapped my arms around her. The thumping of my heart warmed my entire body as I had the love of my life right before me. The act of holding her in my arms doesn't feel enough. I never want to let her go. "Tell me, Levi... why?"
I smiled, kissing her forehead and caressing her cheek with my hand. I could get lost in her eyes if I allowed myself to be consumed. "Tea is just... something that always stuck with me. And I always hated the bitter taste of coffee. I can't understand how you can drink so much in one morning."
"Sugar and milk do wonders, Levi."
"And it doesn't with tea?"
We chuckled, listening to the silence of night together. Just laying in my bed, cuddling and caressing each other. The darkness filled our room as our eyes refused to close. Every hour in bed felt like seconds passing in the wind. I didn't want to leave this. Not like this.
"When will you be back?"
"Just a couple of months. I won't be long. My training will only be for a few months. And soon, I can try to open my shop. You can help design it for me. Maybe make it look presentable. Somehow, make it better than your apartment."
"Oh, that's just cruel."
"Admit it. You're sloppy. You leave dishes all over the place. I don't understand how a dirty bowl ended up in the bathroom. Your bedroom, I get it. But your bathroom? It was disgusting."
"I forget to do dishes. And sometimes, I take food when I shower or-."
"Forget I asked." Hanji chuckled, pulling on my shirt tighter. "Can't you imagine it? The aroma of every type of tea lingering in one room, maybe some spices or other things in stock. I'll have some snacks too. From every country. Maybe I'll even sell some tea sets."
"At least have a coffee section for me, Levi..."
"In the very back of the store."
"Oh, Levi..."
It wasn't long until I heard the familiar snores. She passed out. I whispered into her ear, telling her how much I loved her. It was a habit of mine to say that whenever she sleeps. Sometimes, telling her in person was difficult for me. When she's asleep, she can't judge me. And I hope those words follow her through every dream she has. I hope it protects her when she has nightmares. I'll happily be her shining knight in armor to protect her from every harm. I'll happily slay any dragon if I need to rescue her from danger. I'd happily marry her if it made her smile every day. I'll happily be by her side forevermore. I don't believe in the afterlife, nor does she. But if we die under the stars, I want her to be dancing there. I want to be pulled into her arms. I want to be the she forces to dance to the beautiful sounds of nature and dance in the moonlight or sunlight.
"I love you, Hanji..."
Tonight is my last night with her. Tomorrow morning, I'll leave for another country to train in the arts of brewing tea. I'll learn how they grow tea leaves, how they dry them, and how they package them. One day, I want to have a farm of my own. In every section is a different type of tea. I want to sell them in my shop. No more of those factories that make tea from their iron wallets. I want to sell tea with the warmth of my heart and my love for Hanji.
"You'll have your coffee farm, Hanji... I promise." I said to her.
