SUMMARY: Inspired by the leaked rooftop scene for Season 5:
Mike and Eleven are the living embodiments of the concept of soulmates. After the years of pain and separation, the decide that they will never be apart again.
Not even death shall pull them apart.
It's funny.
How quickly a town like Hawkins could go from a quiet and seemingly unimportant place into what can be best described as a warzone.
Ever since the Giant Gate opened, the Upside Down began slowly leaking into Hawkins. From Demogorgons to the dimension's signature vines, the evil of that place wasted no time in beginning its invasion, one which the military was barely holding back. Everyone who had experience with the Upside Down counted their lucky stars that the Mind Flayer itself hadn't come through.
Eleven released a breath that she felt she had been holding in for years, her freshly grown shoulder-length hair following the wind as she stared at the destruction she had caused. The mostly abandoned town was ripped into four pieces, the monster-infested ravines separating the four sections. Every neighbourhood seemed to have at least one fire, and gunfire could be heard for miles.
The roof of the hilltop radio station gave her a perfect view of her failures.
Right now, people were either fighting the monsters she unleashed or coming up with some kind of plan to push the tides of war to their advantage. And here she was, their supposed key to victory, hiding from everyone and doing nothing.
She didn't want to be here. She wanted to be down there, fighting the Upside Down. She wanted to be downstairs with the others, thinking of a plan. But she couldn't bring herself to leave the cool breeze.
She was tired, just so tired.
She just wanted to rest
Why did she have to be the superhero?
Why did she have to be the only one with the power to stop One?
Why did she have to always fail to fulfil her purpose?
She had a chance in the Rainbow Room and she failed. All she did was turn him into an even bigger threat by sending him to the Upside Down, where he would become Vecna.
She had a chance last year and she failed. And because she failed, Max was mutilated and killed. Sure, she managed to restart her heart but Max was still comatose, her consciousness most likely trapped in Creel's mind.
A sudden flare of anger hit Eleven. The pebbles on the roof, any loose objects around her and even the trees nearby began to shake. Her hatred for Creel was one of the few things that could fish her out of the depths of her despair.
Sure, she may have released One from Brenner's control and she was the one who banished him to the Upside Down, but he chose to become Vecna. He chose to manipulate her. He chose to kill everyone in the Lab. He chose to kill his own family.
He chose to target Max of all people.
The pebbles began to shake more violently as they floated. The radio tower behind her began to sway. The trees began to creek as they were twisted from their roots.
If she was going to do one good thing in this life, then she was going to kill Vecna. She'd rip him apart physically and mentally. She'd scoure his sick mind and handpick every bit of physical and emotional pain he had ever experienced and she would throw it at him tenfold. She would force him to relive the pain he caused everyone.
