The digital breeze ran through his lilac fur. Jax sat on the roof of the Tent, looking at the sky. It was not real, but it was relaxing, nonetheless. Thoughts raced through his head about his friend, Kaufmo, who had abstracted a week from then. Jax was going through a war in his mind, but would he tell anyone? No, Jax felt like he shouldn't make things worse by venting his trash onto a bunch of depressed morons. Recipe for disaster, for sure. Still, he constantly thought about his actions and wondered if Kaufmo's abstraction was somehow his fault.
"I doubt it..." Jax said to himself, trying to deny the possibility. Kaufmo was always trying to be positive, making terrible jokes. Jax told him they sucked, but Jax knew that Kaufmo probably didn't know any good jokes, he wasn't a real clown, after all. Just like how Jax wasn't actually a rabbit. Jax was disappointed in his look, but he's gotten used to it.
Jax pulled down one of his ears, fidgeting with it. He does this when he is nervous, or fidgets with one of his yellow buttons on his overalls. Jax thinks about how he's been here for years, and how his life was close to starting and ripped from his hands. Jax's ear twitches when he hears rustling sounds behind him. The benefits of being a rabbit character are his excellent hearing and running abilities.
"What are you doing up here, Ragatha...?" Jax says as he turns to look at the ragdoll. Ragatha raises an eyebrow and approaches him.
"What are you doing up here?"
Jax groans in irritation. "What. I can even go somewhere to chill out, anymore. Is that it?"
Ragatha frowns. "I never said that, Jax. I was just wondering what you're doing here... by yourself..."
Jax looks down at the doll, and his gaze softens slightly before he looks off into the distance. "I was just relaxing..."
Ragatha looks at him and sighs. She walks over to him and sits down next to him. "It's very calming out here. I never took you for the scenery type." Ragatha glances at him.
"..."
Ragatha tilts her head. "Is something wrong?"
Jax looks down at her, and his eyes harden. "Nah... just thinking."
"About what?"
"Nothing important."
"Jax, you can't just ignore everything wrong... you can talk to me."
"I'm fine, Rags..."
Ragatha sighs and lies down on the roof, looking up at the stars. "I get it... you don't want to seem weak around anyone. You don't want to let anyone in. Correct me if I'm wrong... but you put up this facade... you treat everyone terribly because you don't see the point of having relationships with people who are going to leave you eventually."
Jax looks at her, surprised by her claim. Ragatha looks back, she is dead serious.
"It doesn't matter..." Jax looks away.
Ragatha reaches her hand out to him, but Jax pulls away. Ragatha's hand stops and she pulls her hand away. The wind blows through the digital trees and the Digital Lake ripples.
"Jax... please-"
"Go..."
Ragatha frowns. "Ja-"
"GO!" Jax looks at Ragatha, his eyes narrowing.
Ragatha sighs in defeat and walks away, climbing back into the circus from the roof. Jax looks till she is gone and turns to look at the sky. Jax breathes heavily and tears form in his eyes before he then wipes them away, and hugs his knees, holding back the heavy urge to cry.
