Bien sat in the passenger seat of Christian's sleek sports car, the hum of the engine filling the silence as they drove back to the office. His phone was buzzing incessantly. He scrolled through his social media feed, his brow furrowing with each passing comment.
"Look at this," Bien said, his voice tense. "They're calling you a queerbaiter. Some say your handsomeness is wasted because you like men."
"They called me handsome?" Christian glanced over, his grip on the steering wheel firm but relaxed. "Let me see."
Bien turned his phone towards Christian, who skimmed the comments with a bemused smile.
"Just look at these," Bien continued, his voice growing more agitated. "'Christian should stick to women. What a waste.' 'Why do the hot ones always turn out to be gay?' 'He's just doing it for attention. Queerbaiter!'"
Christian chuckled, shaking his head. "They're creative, I'll give them that."
Bien's fingers tightened around his phone. "This isn't funny, Christian. They're attacking you."
Christian shrugged, his smile unfaltering. "People will always have something to say. You should know that, you were a local celebrity."
Bien's eyes flickered back to the screen, reading another wave of vitriolic comments. "And they're saying I don't deserve you. They said I was rude and toxic because of my outburst on the set."
Christian's tone softened, a reassuring edge to his words. "Bien, I don't care what they think. They don't know us. They don't know our story."
Bien's mind wandered back to that fateful day in college when he confessed his feelings to Christian in front of everyone. The humiliation of Christian freezing up, the whispers and stares from their classmates. Now, seeing Christian face similar public scrutiny, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt.
"I never thought about how much pressure you must've felt," Bien said quietly. "Back then, when I confessed to you in front of everyone. And now, with this."
Christian's eyes softened as he reached over, squeezing Bien's hand. "That was a different time. I know what I want. And what I want is you."
Bien sighed, glancing back at his phone. "I just don't want you to feel like you're being forced to come out. Like you have to prove something to the world."
Christian let out a short laugh. "Honestly, I've been thinking about it for a while. This just sped things up a bit. Besides, if people can't accept me for who I am, then that's their problem, not mine."
Bien couldn't help but smile at Christian's nonchalance. It was one of the things he loved about him – his ability to brush off negativity and focus on what truly mattered.
As they pulled into the parking lot of Bad Egg Productions, Christian turned off the engine and looked at Bien. "We'll get through this, okay?"
Bien nodded, taking a deep breath.
They exited the car, and Christian playfully bumped Bien's shoulder with his. "I'm sure Axel has something ridiculous planned."
Inside the office, the atmosphere was thick with tension. Axel was already pacing around, but instead of a mischievous glint in his eye, he looked scared.
"He's in your office," Axel said.
Upon hearing it, Christian already knew who was waiting in his office. He held Bien's hand and together they walked to Christian's office, finding Mr. George seated on the couch, legs crossed, a cup of coffee in his hand.
