Kim Jisoo and Jeon Yuna had been inseparable since they were ten years old. Their friendship, now spanning almost 22 years, was something rare and precious in these times. Who could claim to have kept a friend so close for over two decades, despite life's many twists and turns? It seemed that luck favored them.
Both had married—Kim Jisoo at 25 and Jeon Yuna at 26—and now, during the 29th year of their friendship, fate had aligned again. Their husbands had been transferred to the same city for work, an opportunity the two women seized immediately, choosing to live as neighbors.
Kim Jisoo had a complex personality. Though she presented herself as an easy-going extrovert, inside she was fiercely independent, relying on herself for most things. Her marriage to Kim Dowoo had already blessed her with a baby boy, Kim Seokjin, born just 20 days before Jeon Yuna's wedding in 1992. Now, as they were preparing to move into their new home, she was pregnant once more.
Her husband, Kim Dowoo, was a rough man in many ways. He couldn't live without his wife and children, but his personality was easily influenced by others, often bringing turmoil to their household. Their relationship was unbreakable, yet tumultuous, marked by frequent fights that worried everyone around them.
