Months had passed, and though the academic year had come to a close, the distance between Taehyung and Jungkook felt as vast as ever. They had aged a year, but their interactions remained minimal. Jungkook, trapped in the monotonous routine of caring for Taehyung, felt as if his own life had become limited to the confines of Taehyung's room, especially that bed. His heart weighed heavy with the thought that he had barely exchanged meaningful words with Taehyung, despite six months passing.
Taehyung, too, showed no signs of improvement. The dullness in his eyes persisted, and the emotional wall he had built between himself and the world remained intact. His parents' fights were as fierce as ever, the household toxic and unchanged. Jungkook had long given up hope that the situation would improve. His own parents hadn't complained about his absence, and Seoyoung filled the void at home.
Today, though, was different. Jungkook had made up his mind to speak to Taehyung, though he had no idea what he was going to say. The burden of unspoken words weighed heavily on him as they bid farewell to their classmates at the Kim residence. Jungkook's stomach fluttered with nervousness as he finally found the courage to call out."Taehyung hyung, shall we talk, at the end of the street?" Jungkook's voice trembled slightly, but his determination didn't waver.
Without a word, Taehyung began walking towards the end of the street. Jungkook hurried to catch up, his steps quickening as he walked in front of Taehyung. Out of curiosity, he glanced over his shoulder to see if Taehyung was looking at him. As expected, Taehyung was staring. The older boy's gaze wasn't focused on the road but entirely on Jungkook.
Jungkook side-eyed him nervously, and his heart skipped a beat when he saw Taehyung's eyes locked on him. Distracted, he stumbled on his steps, nearly falling to the ground. But before he could hit the pavement, Taehyung's hand shot out, gripping him by the waist and pulling him against his chest.
The air between them crackled with tension as they found themselves staring deep into each other's eyes, both caught off guard by the sudden closeness. Jungkook's heart pounded in his chest as he blurted out, "Why do you always stare at me with those eyes? Do you want to talk to me?"Taehyung's grip tightened around Jungkook's waist, his gaze shifting from Jungkook's lips to his eyes and back again. His voice came out low, mocking, "It's you who called me out to talk, kid."
Jungkook's frustration boiled over, and he tried to wriggle out of Taehyung's hold, but it was futile. Anger spilled from his lips as he ranted, "Namjoon hyung said to take care of you and be your comfort place, whereas Seoyoung said you want to try out something with me, but nothing is happening, hyung. It's been 6 months, and you are nowhere to be happy. What's the point of your request? Am I useless, or do you not want to use me to be your comfort place?"
The intensity between them grew as Taehyung leaned closer, his face just inches from Jungkook's. His voice was soft but piercing as he asked, "Do you want to be my comfort place? Do you want me to try something with you?" His breath brushed against Jungkook's skin, sending a shiver down his spine.
