It was already late afternoon when Haeun and Seungcheol pulled up to the ski resort where they were going to spend the next few days in the company of their friends. She stepped out of the car and, despite the cold air hitting her cheeks, she took a moment to marvel at the postcard-like scenery—the towering pine trees covered in snow, the twinkling lights guiding their path, and the slopes on the horizon coming together in a beautiful landscape.
Each couple had their own cabin—the rustic charm of the wooden furniture contrasting nicely with the luxurious amenities, making it the perfect retreat from the world outside. A plush bed was placed in front of the stone fireplace, while the large windows offered an amazing view of the snow-covered hills.
Once they settled in, the couple made their way to the main lodge, where their friends were already waiting for them. The guys were playing billiards, while the girls were seated on the couch, talking and sipping on hot chocolate.
"There you are!" Yujin called out, waving them over enthusiastically.
Aeri was beside her, a bright smile lighting up her face as she gestured for Haeun to join them. Seungcheol gave her a little nod and stayed back with Jeonghan and Joshua while she happily skipped to her friends' side.
He watched as she plopped down on the couch next to them, her head thrown back in laughter at something Yujin had said. The sight made his heart swell. He really loved her laugh.
Perhaps a getaway in such a romantic setting would provide the perfect opportunity for them to finally take the next step they were both secretly craving.

"What is Seungcheol yapping about?"
Upon Aeri's remark, Haeun looked over at the guys, her eyes narrowing at the sight of them huddled together while her husband eagerly scrolled through his phone. By his exaggerated gestures, she could tell he was boasting about the Christmas tree in their home. To her surprise, Jeonghan and Joshua actually looked impressed. Weirdos.
"I created a monster," she replied with a playful roll of her eyes before changing the subject. "By the way, thank you for helping him with my gift. I really loved it."
"No problem, sweetie," Yujin grinned in response.
"How did you thank him?" Aeri's eyes twinkled with a characteristic mischief.
"By saying 'thank you.' How else?" Haeun shrugged naively, failing to catch what her friend was hinting at.
"Really?" Aeri stated in disbelief. "No kiss?"
"You are both so slow," Yujin added, clearly exasperated.
Staring at her friends, Haeun debated whether she should confide in them about her predicament with Seungcheol but ultimately decided to just let it out. "Yeah, about that..."
Yujin and Aeri were all ears as she finally opened up about the constant tension that seemed to hang in the air whenever she was near Seungcheol. When she finished talking, she felt lighter but was also curious about what they would have to say.
"I think I know what the problem is, but I don't want to say it," Aeri spoke up, feeling apprehensive.
Haeun raised an eyebrow. "Why not?"
"Because it's a touchy subject, and you might get upset," Aeri warned, gauging her reaction.
"For God's sake, Aeri," Haeun pressed on. "Just say it!"
Aeri sighed, biting her lip as if choosing her next words.
"This tension you're talking about is not just any tension," she explained carefully, her voice lowering. "It's the... sexual kind."
