**At office**
The wind was blowing hard, and the sun was about to set. I was sitting at my desk, working on my laptop, completely absorbed in my office work. The room was quiet except for the soft hum of the computer and the rustling of papers.
Suddenly, I heard a knock at the gate. The sound pulled me out of my thoughts, and I looked up, slightly startled. It was my coworker, who had also become a good friend over time. She stood there with a familiar smile, bringing a sense of comfort amidst the hectic day.....I also greeted her with a warm smile and called out, "come in!" inviting her inside.
She walked over to me and asked, "So, how was your day?"
I sighed and replied, "Just like always, filled with work."
Then she came to my side and glanced at my laptop and said, "You seemed really busy there. Were you working on something important?"
I just shook my head and said, "Not really. The boss just asked me to prepare a presentation. You know there is an important meeting tomorrow with the 'Cisco corporation'. Then she said,"oh yes! I remember now".
Then I asked her, "So, tell me, what brings you to my office at this hour all of a sudden?"She suddenly broke into a big smile and said, "I have some good news to share with you." I became happy after hearing that but wanted to tease her.
Playfully, I replied, "Oh, good news ... Are you pregnant ? How come you didn't tell me? You said that I'm your good friend then how come I don't know about this ....When did all this happen?"
She laughed and said, "That was a really bad joke!"
I smiled and said, "Alright, alright, tell me, what's the real good news?" After some pause.....With great happiness and pride, she said, "I got promoted today! I've moved up a position."
A big smile spread across my face, and I was genuinely happy for her. She was very hardworking from the day she got a job here then I said "Really? That's such amazing news! Congratulations!" I exclaimed, teasing her a bit, "So, how does it feel to be on a higher post now, ma'am? How are you feeling?"
She smiled and said, "I never thought my work would be appreciated so much, and that I'd get promoted so quickly."
I nodded and said, "You always give your best at work. This was bound to happen. Now, tell me, when am I getting my party?" She smiled and said, "Tomorrow evening. I've already told the other coworkers about the party, and I'm here to invite you. After the office tomorrow, we'll all head to the café and have a great time and eat a lot of food. Oh, and make sure you dress up nicely for the party because I know you are a girl with simplicity and doesn't like those things so much and always come to the office simply, without much makeup or dressing up, so that's why I'm telling you to dress up".
I laughed and teased her, "Oh, really? You want me to do that?"
She replied seriously, "Yes, definitely."
I grinned and said, "Alright, alright, I get it, ma'am. Whatever you say…" I like to be simple and clean that's why I don't do much makeup or anything but for her I agreed.
She then said, "Okay, I should get going now. I have to prepare some files."
I nodded, "Sure, go ahead."
Before leaving, she added, "Let's go home together after the office today".
I replied, "Yes, absolutely, let's do that."
With that, she left my office, and I turned back to my laptop, resuming my work.
A while later, as the office hours started winding down, I began to feel a mix of relief and anticipation. I shut down my laptop, letting out a deep breath, feeling the weight of the day's work lift slightly. I carefully packed it into my bag, the familiar motions of closing the day bringing a sense of calm. Gathering my belongings, I sent a quick message to my friend, asking her to meet me outside. She replied almost instantly, "Okay, I'll be there as soon as I finish putting away the files."
