Taehyung’s POV

I’m playing with the food in front of me while my mind tries to think of a way to get closer to my younger brother. The truth is, ever since we were separated—me choosing to stay with our father and him with our mother—our relationship has slowly deteriorated and been replaced by hatred.

I have no idea what he likes, what food he prefers, what places he enjoys, or what movies he watches.

I deserve the "Worst Brother Ever" award!

Namjoon: “Taehyung, I’m talking to you!”

I hear my father’s loud voice right next to my ear, and I immediately snap back to reality.

TAE: “Sorry, Dad. I was a bit distracted.”

Namjoon: “I noticed! What are you thinking about?”

TAE: “My little brother. Dad, I know your relationship with him is really bad, but if neither of you makes the first move, nothing will change.”

Namjoon: “He’s the one with a problem with me because I left your mother and married the woman I’ve been in love with since I was a child.”

TAE: “You know that’s not the real reason.”

Namjoon: “Let me ask you something. Now that you’re in a relationship with Jungkook and you know what it’s like to be truly in love, do you think you wouldn’t have gone back to him if the same thing happened to you?”

TAE: “So what you’re saying is that Mom was just a choice you made while trying and hoping to get over your wife. Did you ever really love her?”

Namjoon: “I can’t tell you what you want to hear.”

TAE: “Then how do you expect your second son not to be trapped in a prison you built for him?”

Namjoon: “I don’t allow you to speak to your father that way!”

He slams his hand on the table, looking at me as if I’m an enemy trying to overpower him.

Right. We’re not children from the woman he loves!

I grab my bag and rush out, and once I’m outside, my breathing becomes rapid, as if I hadn’t been breathing all this time.

I walk towards the university, lost in my thoughts. Suddenly, two familiar arms wrap around my waist.

JK: “Good morning!”

TAE: “Good morning!”

JK: “What’s wrong with my boy?”

TAE: “I fought with my dad!”

He looks at me in surprise, pinching his cheek as if to check if he’s dreaming.

JK: “That hurt! Sorry, but you’re driving me crazy. What do you mean you fought with your dad?”

TAE: “Just because I don’t say anything doesn’t mean I don’t feel anything.”

JK: “I don’t mean that, babe. It’s just that you’re usually calm and patient with him.”

TAE: “Do you know what he said to me? That he never loved my mom.”

JK: “You’re acting like you didn’t already know that. Deep down, you knew; you just hoped you were wrong.”

TAE: “Sorry, but right now, I don’t need a therapist. I need someone to help me!”

JK: “Okay, don’t get mad! Tell me, what do you want?”

I hug him, wanting to show him that he’s the only one who isn’t to blame for the mess that’s happening in my life.

TAE: “I’m sorry!”

JK: “It’s okay. I know how hard it is for you to deal with all this crap that’s happening. Just remember that I’m here for you.”

TAE: “I know!”

JK: “Now tell me, what do you need my help with?”

TAE: “Help me find a way to get closer to Yoongi.”

JK: “It’s easier for me to solve the hardest math problems than to do that. Yoongi isn’t the type of person who will easily open up to someone, and you know that.”

TAE: “You’re right. But there must be some way!”

Yoongi’s POV

I’m climbing the stairs on my way to class, but when I reach the last step, I see Jimin sitting with his back against the wall, eyes closed, listening to music with his headphones on. He’s the last person I wanted to see right now.

Suddenly, my brother and his boyfriend appear next to me. Well, the second-to-last person!

JK: “Jimin!”

He nudges him with his foot, and Jimin opens his eyes. He really was asleep! He looks like a sleepy duckling!

When he sees me, his gaze freezes on mine, ignoring everyone around him.

JK: “What time did you leave this morning?”

JIMIN: “Early.”

JK: “Yeah, I noticed that. I mean, why did you leave so early?”

JIMIN: “I had something to do.”

JK: “Which was?”

JIMIN: “To make sure I saw someone!”

JK: “Who are you seeing at seven in the morning?”

Yoongi: “Maybe he has a relationship and doesn’t want to tell you.”

JIMIN: “If I had one, you specifically would definitely know!”

A small smile forms on my lips. The first time I’ve genuinely smiled in years.

JIMIN: “Since smiling suits you, why do you hide it?”

Yoongi: “Because after laughter comes pain, and I’m already dead from it!”

I walk past him and head to my class. I sit at the desk by the window, staring at the cloudy sky. I used to envy people who laughed and were "okay."

I wanted to be able to laugh too, without it being a weak cover for my desire to cry.

Now I can’t feel anything anymore. I’m frozen! I’m broken! I’m numb from the pain! Even if I scream or cry, it will be as if I’m silent.
