Aurora felt a jolt of sobriety snap through her as the chaotic scene unfolded before her eyes. She blinked, trying to process the flames, the screams, and the shock that now lingered in the air. As the situation finally started to calm down, she turned to Benj, about to say something, but her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by Ruby's frantic approach.

"Aurora, you know—" she started, but Ruby cut in, his face twisted with urgency.

"Benj, we need to get the hell out of here. Now. The guys from that fake drug deal? They're here, at the party. It's about to get ugly."

Aurora's heart skipped a beat. The atmosphere, which had been charged with a strange mix of adrenaline and budding intimacy, suddenly took a dark turn. She could feel the tension tighten around them like a noose.

Before Benj could even respond, a group of men pushed through the backyard crowd, their expressions grim and menacing. The leader, a bulky guy with a shaved head and a mean scowl, pointed directly at them.

"There are those motherfuckers," the guy growled, his voice dripping with hostility.

Ruby, ever the smooth-talker despite the fear in his eyes, tried to play it cool. "Hey, fellas, how's it going?"

"Shut the fuck up," the guy snapped, stepping closer. "You think you can sell us shit and get away with it?"

Ruby raised his hands in mock surrender, still attempting to keep the situation under control. "Fake shit? That's gotta be some kind of misunderstanding."

The guy's eyes narrowed. "Talk fast, bitch."

Ruby gestured toward Benj without hesitation. "I got it from him," he said, throwing Benj under the bus without a second thought.

Benj's eyes widened in shock. "I had nothing to do with that!" he protested, his voice trembling.

Ruby didn't even flinch. "Nah, he told me it was legit. Said it was 'bank.'"

"Come on, Ruby!" Benj pleaded, his desperation clear.

Ruby continued, undeterred. "I popped one like two hours ago, and I don't feel shit either."

"He's lying!" Benj exclaimed, his voice rising in panic. "He forced me! You gotta believe me!"

Ruby shrugged nonchalantly, his voice turning cold. "Just give them their money back, take the beating, and learn from your shit. Come on, guys, he's just a kid."

But before anything else could be said, one of the guys lunged forward, landing a brutal punch squarely on Ruby's face. Ruby crumpled to the ground, blood gushing from his nose, his body hitting the floor with a sickening thud.

Benj stood frozen, his fear palpable. He didn't know whether to run, fight, or beg for mercy. Aurora, watching the violence unfold, felt a surge of fear and anger. She didn't want Benj to get hurt, but she also didn't want to draw attention to herself. It wasn't her fight, but leaving Benj to face it alone felt wrong.
