November 12, 1977 - Saturday
Hallowe'en passing, paired with the weather outside becoming colder, only meant one thing. Quidditch season had finally arrived.
It had been all Regulus could talk about the past week, boring all of his friends out of their minds. Leonora wasn't the biggest fan of quidditch, however, she still supported her friend and tried to show up to every game, whether there be rain or shine.
The first match of the year, like usual, would be against Gryffindor. She absolutely hated going to that particular match, as she would have to watch her brother act all cocky out on the pitch.
"We have to eat quickly," Illyria pestered Leonora as they sat together at breakfast that morning, "before Regulus gets here and goes on and on about quidditch. I don't think I can hear another word of it; my head might explode."
Leonora laughed. "It's too late for that," she said as she spotted Regulus entering the great hall.
Illyria turned to view what Leonora was looking at and groaned. The boy spotted the pair and briskly made his way over to them.
"Goodmorning, Nora, Illyria," he nodded his head at the two. "I hope to see you two at the big game today."
"Of course," Leonora smiled to the boy. "I wouldn't miss it."
"I'm not sure if I'll be able to make today's game, but next time I definitely will," Illyria promised.
Regulus frowned. "Almost all of our friends can't come to today. The first game of the season, and they're all busy!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands up annoyed and stomping away.
The two girls watched as he left, giggling.
"Dramatic much," Illyria joked as she turned back to face Leonora.
"Very," she agreed, before taking bite of her pancakes. "Why aren't you able to go?"
"I'm hanging out with Francis today," Illyria whispered, her cheeks painted pink. "He's supposed to be setting up a date for us in that hidden room that I showed you right now."
"That's sweet," said a smiling Leonora. "Just make sure you don't get caught with him."
Illyria sighed. "I know. It really sucks having to go through all the trouble just to avoid people seeing us together. I wish our relationship could be out in the open."
Leonora only smiled sadly, knowing how disappointed Illyria was.
"I've been meaning to ask you, Nora, have you given any more thought to what we talked about in the room? You know," she lowered her voice even more, "about becoming a you know what."
"I... have." Leonora answered slowly.
"And?"
Leonora frowned. "And... you aren't going to like my answer."
"That's what I thought," Illyria responded, sounding disappointed in her friend. "Just, whenever you do become one... be careful, alright? I know that you're a good person, Nora, you can't let them change that about you."
"You don't have to worry about me, Illyria."
"Of course I do."
