Peter ran as fast as he could from that awful place, from Tivan, with Cass's hand in his. At least, he was glad to see, the explosion had shattered the cages open and freed the occupants. Small miracles, he supposed.

Whatever the hell the infinity stone thing was, it was bad news. The little movie Tivan had shown them was awful, but seeing its power in real life was absolutely terrifying. How the hell was anything supposed to be safe from that damn stone? Not that he could just have left it with Tivan. But was it wise to carry it out of there in his bare hands?

He shook the questions swirling in his head off as he and Cass emerged from the Boot of Jemiah to find Rocket, Groot, and Gamora approaching. Gamora clutched her side, wincing slightly as she walked. If it weren't for the pure adrenaline running through his system, screaming at him to get the fuck out of that place, he might've felt any of the cuts and bruises he knew he had from the explosion, too.

"What do you still have it for?" Rocket shouted, gesturing wildly.

"What do you want me to do, leave it in there?" he snapped back.

Rocket raked his hands over his face, clearly agitated. Not that Peter could blame him. "I can't believe you had that thing in your purse!"

"It's not a purse, it's a knapsack!" he huffed.

Cass scoffed. "You don't get to talk, you wanted to put a damn bomb in a box!"

Peter bit back a grin - there was a reason he liked her. Apart from the great body. And those gorgeous eyes.

"How could I think Tivan could contain whatever was in the orb?" Gamora breathed, looking around Knowhere. Peter could see her looking for their next step. Not that he thought she'd find it in the wreckage inside the creepy floating head.

While snapping at Rocket had made him smile, Cass's next words were a shot to the gut. "We have to take it to Nova Corps," she said, almost too quietly. Too calmly.

"Are you kidding me?" Rocket growled. For once Peter agreed with the raccoon, that sounded like an incredibly bad idea. "We're wanted by the Nova Corps! You defected and helped us break out of prison! They ain't exactly gonna treat us well! Just give it to Ronan."

Now that was an even worse idea. "So he can destroy the Galaxy?" Peter asked, incredulous.

Rocket was practically hopping with anger, arms flailing as he spoke. "What are you, some saint all of a sudden?" he exclaimed. "What has the Galaxy ever done for you? Why would you wanna save it?!"

"Because I'm one of the idiots who lives in it!" he shouted back. God, Rocket could be infuriating! Give it to Ronan?!

"Cass is right," Gamora sighed. "At least there's a chance the Nova Corps can contain it."
