I opened my eyes and was met with blinding light, I had to close my eyes and open them slower so I could see. This time I saw a white wall and windows, this was making this room sunny. I didn't know much, my brain felt foggy and out of place. I looked around and stopped when I saw a girl. A fairy girl. She was curled up in a chair next to my bed and fast asleep. She was pretty. Her hair was a mess of brown curls that slowly faded to white at the tips. Her chocolate skin seemed to glow in the morning sun and her wings were swirls of pink and purple. There was also something about her that drew me to her. It felt otherworldly and... magical. There was magic deep in her bones.

I slowly sat up and peeled the blankets away from me. I was wearing a shirt with a lace on the front, brown pants, and stockings. A simple outfit that made me wonder if I was a guard or something. The girl was wearing a simple dress but I still looked expensive; she must be of noble birth. I placed my feet on the ground and stood up, I had to hold onto the bed as the world spun around me. My brain instantly said it was normal but I didn't know how I knew that.

I was going to sneak out of the room but the girl's eyes opened and she sat up abruptly when she saw me standing.

"You're awake!" She said standing up, she was a few inches shorter than me but very tall. I thought fairies were supposed to be small.

"Yes, I am." That seemed a reasonable response, nothing too weird about it.

"Do you remember anything that happened?" She looked a little concerned as she inspected me.

"No, something happened?" That must not have been a good answer because the girl wilted a little.

"You fell into the garden pond last night and have been asleep since. I thought you'd be able to explain how you fell from the sky and how you got into the sky. And are you a Keeper? That gem is magic and so I assumed you're a Keeper but I'm not entirely certain." With every question the girl got closer to me, I was too shocked to move but she was starting to scare me a little. I felt my mind reach out and something strange happened.

I felt the water sitting in the cup. It was a few feet away and I couldn't see it but I sensed it was there. As soon as I sensed that water I felt the water in the air, in my body, and the ground outside. It was so much and with the girl in my face I could feel my breathing getting more strained, so I did what my instincts said to do. I reached out with my hand, mentally grabbed the water, and flung it at the girl.

I was hoping to only grab the water in the cup but I also grabbed some from the air. So the girl was drenched from the amount of water that I shot at her. I took the time to move away from her while she coughed and wiped the water from her eyes.

"I'll take that as a yes." The girl looked at me and went all pale. I had to double-check to make sure I wasn't still holding water, I wasn't, but I realized that I could still feel it. The water around me was still waiting to be called on.

"Do your eyes normally glow?" The girl was backing away with wide eyes. I couldn't remember if my eyes glowed so I didn't answer. Instead, I took the time to slowly bring my mind back to my body, the amount of water I had access to was scaring me.

"Oh, they're back to normal. If you call yellow a normal eye color that is." I was now realizing that this girl probably didn't have any means to harm me, she just seemed curious.

"Who are you?" I asked, trying to keep my anxiety out of my voice. The girl looked surprised for a brief moment before covering it up.

"I'm Princess Orenda, heir to the throne." I almost passed out. I was standing in a room with a princess. I had just flung a bunch of water at her face. I think I might die today.

"Who are you?" Princess Orenda moved closer to me, her eyes bright with curiosity. I was ready to answer but for some reason, I couldn't remember my name. I did have a name, right?

"I can't remember my name." Princess Orenda tilted her head and moved closer, her eyes roaming my scalp as if she were trying to see if I was injured,

"You can't remember? Does your head hurt anywhere?" I shook my head and stepped back, running into a wall.

"Strange, well, I'll have to give you a name until you remember. Something that suits you and your power. How about, Reed?" I didn't want to argue with a princess so I nodded. She could've chosen a worse name, Reed was nice.

"Okay, so Reed. My father, the king, doesn't know you're here. Me and a guard snuck you up here last night after I fished you from the pond. I have a busy day and unfortunately, no way to sneak you out. So you have to stay here and find a way to entertain yourself without alerting the entire castle that you're here. I don't want to know what'll happen if someone finds a strange boy with yellow eyes in my room but I don't think it'll be pretty." This was the princess's room? I looked around the small room and wondered why she didn't have a grand room.

"This is my extra room, it branches off from my main bedroom. No one should come in here but if they do I need you to hide somewhere. I'll send some food up so you can eat throughout the day. There is a bedpan under the bed if you need it but I have to go. I overslept and I have meetings to attend to." I watched as the princess quickly left the room and shut the door behind her. Leaving me standing against a wall feeling very lost and confused. How was I supposed to entertain myself for a whole day? There wasn't much to do in here except... except practice my magic.
