"The birthday girl is here!" Augustus calls from the kitchen. "Everyone get ready!" He scrambles behind the couch right as the door opens.
"Hey, Levi!" Ignis says as she steps inside. Mare is right behind her.
"Happy Birthday Ignis! Might want to be careful, Augustus is behind the couch trying to scare you." I reply mischievously. Turning my head to look at her as she enters.
Augustus stands up and scowls at me, "Dude. What was that for?" He plops down on the couch, taking up over half of it. "Hey, Leo!" he hollers, "Your couch is small!"
"Maybe you're just big," Leo hollers back as he descends the stairs. "Mare! Ignis! You made it!" He runs down the last steps and tackles hugs them, taking them down to the floor.
Groaning, Mare wiggles out of Leo's grasp and stands up. "Ow! What was that for?" She seems tired. Exhausted even.
Louis calls to everyone," Guys! The news is on and they're talking about some mysterious kid with powers!" Mare and Ignis stiffen for a second.
Walking over to the couch, I hop over the back and land sitting on my legs.
"Channel 7 News." the person on the television introduces.
Abigail sits to my left, Leo on my right, with Mare next to him and Ignis next to her. Augustus, Louis, Samuel, and Lauwrence sit on the colorful rug in front of the couch.
Ignis is wearing her long, wavy, black hair down and the strips of royal blue in the front of her hair are braided and pulled back.
"Comas vultus pulchellus," Mare compliments Ignis. 'Your hair looks pretty.'
"Gratias," Ignis replies. 'Thanks.'
"Felix natalis," Mare whispers back. 'Happy Birthday.'
"Here we have Officer Bryant and Fire Chief London on Channel 7 News. Chief London, why did you stand up for this mysterious magik?" the reporter interrupts their conversation.
"Oh, is that what we're calling them now?" he asks curiously, "What was I supposed to do? Let Bryant here shoot them?" Chief London asks in response.
Officer Bryant scoffs at him without saying anything and sits quietly.
"Maybe you two don't know this but vigilantism is illegal. Therefore, if he continues crap like this, I have the legal authority to arrest him. And I will do just that to keep the city of Wendsburrow from this dangerous 'magik'."
Ignis clears her throat and says, 'Okay, I'm done watching this. Someone turn it off, please." The TV shuts off and Leo puts the remote down. I get why she wanted it turned off.
"Next order of business," Samuel says," Now that everyone is here, what do we have planned for dinner? 'Cause it's like 7 p.m." His arms fly up in exaggeration.
" My mom ordered us pizza and sushi," Leo announces.
Louis asks, "Why both?"
"We couldn't decide what would be for dinner, so we got both. Leo wanted pizza, I wanted sushi. Simplest solution was to get both. Problem solved." Ignis answers
"Who wants what?" Leo finishes for Ignis.
"I want pizza," August and Louis immediately say. "Please," Louis adds as he looks at Samuel. Samuel is watching Mare and Ignis closely, almost as if he'd figured out something.
"Can I have sushi?" I ask them. They shrug in response and I watch Samuel. He definitely figured something out. "Samuel? You okay? I thought you would be the first person to volunteer for sushi. You seem off put."
