A few days later, Jason and Tyler are sitting in the cafeteria eating lunch.
"So she was literally this close and you did nothing", Tyler says leaning over the table and putting his face close to Jason's.
"Yes", Jason says laughing and pushing him away.
"Why?", Tyler asks.
"Because my mom walked in the house", Jason says.
"Oh the cockblocker", Tyler says.
"Dude that's my mom", Jason says.
"I know, and I love her, but she's still a cock blocker", Tyler says.
Jason laughs.
"You're only saying that because she busted you making out with Simone Lynn in the locker room last year", Jason says.
"The literal definition of a cock blocker", Tyler says.
They start laughing together.
"But I don't know something was weird after my mom walked in, she started panicking and left very abruptly", Jason says.
"Because your mom is the principal", Tyler says.
"So, my mom doesn't scare off my other friends", Jason says.
"What other friends?", Tyler asks, "I'm your only friend".
"Shut up", Jason says, "Tara's my friend too".
"Yeah but she's a friend who clearly likes you, the question is, do you like her back?", Tyler asks.
Jason falls silent. After a few minutes, Tara walks up and sits at the table.
"Oh my god, you guy's should see the line for the people buying tickets for the talent show tonight, this is gonna be the biggest event of the year", Tara says.
"Are you signing up?", Jason asks.
"Oh no, I sing like a screaming cat", Tara says.
"And you talk like a barking dog, you just have a whole little pound going on over there", Tyler jokes.
"Bite me", Tara says.
Suddenly Tara hears a high pitch noise in her ear, she squints her eyes.
"What's wrong?", Jason asks.
"You don't hear that?", Tara asks.
"Hear what?", Jason asks.
"I don't know, it sounds like a high pitch scream but more deadly", Tara says.
"It's probably a memory of you singing", Tyler says.
"No, I'm serious, how can you two not hear it?", Tara asks.
"Maybe it's too far away and you're only hearing it because of your super hearing", Jason says.
"Possibly", Tara says.
Suddenly the bell rings.
"Well, that's our cue, we got to go to Gym Class", Jason says.
"I think I forgot to pack my gym shorts", Tyler says.
"I have an extra pair you can borrow", Jason says.
"Thanks", Tyler says.
"What's your next class Tara?", Jason asks,
"Uh, I have theatre, but we probably won't do much because they're rehearsing for the talent show", Tara says.
"Well have fun", Tyler says.
