MARCH
The next day we had another concert in Seattle, so we had all day to do whatever we wanted. Which gave November the time to go to the pharmacy and get Adam's medication, who wouldn't shut up about being stuck in the van.
So, as a solution, we decided to go to the beach. Adam could go in the water. Part way anyway, and November could walk to the Pharmacy when the medication was ready.
I drove towards the beach, seeing cars swarming the parking lot. I wince, hoping we could find a spot.
"October, Nov, Crispin wake up!" Adam calls from the front seat. He'd vetoed everyone who wanted to sit up front and complained about how much his face hurt. "Come on we're almost there!"
"Almost where?" November groaned. By the time we'd gotten back to the hotel, it was around two am. And, since we hadn't expected to have another person on our trip, so November and October had to share a room.
"To the beach." I glanced back at them, seeing a group of sleepy boys staring back at me, they lit up at the words. "It's close to the pharmacy, don't worry November I'll keep the kids entertained."
I pull up to an empty field next to the beach, empty. I park the van and climb out. The ocean air hits me, and I smile. We are on tour. It seemed to finally hit me; it had been something we'd been dreaming about since middle school. And here we are.
"The beach? No! I'm not-I'm not--"
Someone was yelling form the van. The rest of the boys, Crispin, Adam, Roux and Radley were all running down to the water, yelling at each other playfully. I walked back over to the van, seeing October on the floor and November standing outside the van.
"Come on, October you don't have to go in the water, just sit on the beach. I'll sit with you." November tried to grab October's hand, but October pulled away quickly.
"No-no I can't do it. November please--" He looked like he was about to cry.
"Do you not like the beach, October?" I walked up to the two, they looked over with surprise.
"No-it's not like that" October crouched on the floor near the door, anxiously looking out at the sea. He fell silent, tearing at his sleeves nervously. "It's uh..."
"It's nothing, I'm just going to sit with him in the van. You go have fun." November waved a hand distractedly at me. He looked worried, eyes never leaving October.
"Okay." I nodded at the two and let them have their weird little thing, before walking off to the other boys playing in the sand. They threw water at each other and ran around in the waves. Adam sat on the sand, worried about getting his brace wet.
"Not gonna get in the water?" I tease him.
"No, apparently I'll turn into a mermaid." Adam pulled his shirt off and leaned back onto the sand.
"You're gonna get a weird ass tan line." I laughed, his metal brace glinting in the sun light.
Adam sat up and gave me a glare. "Don't remind me."
"March! Come look at what we found!" Radley yells at me from the sea, his clothes were soaked. He held up something red.
"What are you holding put it down!" I yell and chase him into the ocean, he runs away laughing and Roux grabs me around the middle and throws me into the water. I sit up with a gasp, glaring at Roux who was laughing his ass off, and fell backwards into the water.
Radley had climbed up onto a rock and held the red thing up above his head. "Come and get it, mom!" He teased.
I ran up to the rock and kicked a wave at him, making him fall over and drop the thing. I look at it, and it was a red star fish with eight legs. I yell out in fear and fall into the water as well. Radley shoves me off him.
