You Zhenhan listened to Su He's question but didn't know what Su He was planning. He just nodded and responded with an "Mm!"

Su He frowned, finding it a bit odd.

This cow was different from others; it wasn't easy for strangers to just take away. Even if they used a rope to restrain the cow by its nose, the cow would surely make some noise!

Su He also recalled the piece of cloth thrown on the ground in the cow pen, and the ether on the cloth!

This was definitely a group operation, and the perpetrators surely hadn't gone far. They must have used some tool to drag the cow away. Such a commotion couldn't have gone unnoticed.

In that dark environment, how did they transport it?

Furthermore, the cow pen was at the back of the village. To move it out, they would have to pass through the village.

Thus, it was impossible for there to be no noise at all!

Director He, seeing Su He frown and remembering that Su He had helped him repair a vehicle before, was curious about the young man.

"Do you have a clue?"

Su He shook his head and then nodded, leaving Director He even more confused!

Ye Zhenhan said, "Do you have a clue or not? Don't make random claims if you don't have one; it might interfere with the police investigation!"

The number of cows in the village was no small matter—over thirty in total!

And with the busy farming season coming up, including planting the late rice, missing cows would be a serious problem.

At other times, they could borrow cows from other villages, but with everyone busy, would they be able to borrow any?

Director He understood Ye Zhenhan's concern and waved his hand, "It's not that serious! Just asking around and gathering opinions is also useful information."

Su He rubbed his nose and said, "Well, last night, the cow thief left a piece of cloth in my cow pen, which smelled of ether. I think they must have used ether to drug the cow before taking it away!"

Director He's eyes lit up; this was a significant breakthrough!

He knew about ether from previous cases involving abductions, where the perpetrators used ether to drug children and then pretended to be their parents, using excuses like the child being ill or asleep to abduct them.

"Let's go, show me where it was!"

They saw the bloodstains on the ground, but the piece of cloth was missing!

Director He asked, "Where is it?"

Su He was puzzled and called out, "Sister, Sister!"

Su Mei came out from the house, wondering who had been to the cow pen.

Su Mei frowned and shook her head, "No one."

Su He was confused. If no one had been there, then where did the cloth go?

However, Su Mei couldn't keep watch all the time, so someone might have come and she didn't notice.

At this moment, Su Yucheng returned from outside and saw Su He standing by the cow pen, with a flicker of unease in his eyes. He lowered his head and tried to run into the house!

Su He frowned and called out, "Su Yucheng, come here!"

He had a strong suspicion that Su Yucheng was acting strangely!

Of course, Su Yucheng wasn't the one who stole the cow, but the missing cloth couldn't have disappeared for no reason!

Su Yucheng, seeing Su He call him, ran into the courtyard like a mouse running from a cat, shouting, "Dad, Mom, He Yazi wants to hit me!"

Su He was so angry he almost wanted to grab Su Yucheng on the spot and give him a good beating!

This family, while the others were manageable, Su Yucheng was a real troublemaker!

Others still had some family sense; as long as Su He guided them well, they could be changed.

( Just leave them no need to change)

But Su Yucheng, spoiled from a young age, was just like those unreliable uncles and aunts—hard to save!

These were all traits instilled by those not-so-reliable parents.

When Su He entered the house, Ye Chuanxiu came out with slightly red eyes. It wasn't clear what had happened, but Ye Chuanxiu told Su He, "He's your younger brother; don't always hit him!"

After yesterday's events, Ye Chuanxiu was no longer so firm with Su He and spoke more softly.

Su He didn't know if it was due to his outburst yesterday or something else.

Su Yucheng stood beside Ye Chuanxiu, looking rather smug.

Su He sighed inwardly and said, "Su Yucheng, what were you doing in my cow pen today?"

Ye Chuanxiu was puzzled, "He always thinks that place is dirty and never goes there."

After all, cows do produce manure.

You can't expect cows to hold it in, can you?

But in rural areas, cow manure is valuable, used as farm fertilizer or even as firewood in winter.

Some ethnic minorities even use cow manure to cook hotpot!

Su Yucheng retorted, "That place is very dirty; I wouldn't go there!"

Yet his eyes were shifty!

Su He was sure Su Yucheng had been there.

The more Su Yucheng denied it, the more certain Su He became.

He couldn't figure out how to say it, but noticed the snacks he had left on the table were all gone, with only an oil paper remaining!

Without a doubt, most of the snacks had been eaten by Su Yucheng.

Su Rong might have had some too, but definitely not more than Su Yucheng!

If there was more, Su Yucheng would have summoned his parents to complain!

Su He looked at Su Yucheng and said, "I'll give you some candy if you tell me who made you take the cloth from my cow pen."

Saying that, Su He took out a few pieces of candy from the bedroom cupboard, where he had left them last night for convenience.

Su Yucheng's eyes turned, but he still refused to say, looking at Ye Chuanxiu.

Ye Chuanxiu's mouth moved, about to speak, but Su He interrupted, "If you don't tell me, I won't give you the candy. I was too soft-hearted this morning, leaving snacks for you. I'm telling you now, if you don't talk, I'd rather throw these candies into the cesspool than give them to you!"

Su Yucheng told Ye Chuanxiu, "Mom, look at He Yazi. He'd rather throw the candy into the cesspool than give it to me. You should beat him!"

Su He was so angered by Su Yucheng's audacity that he shouted, "If you keep being so disrespectful, even if Mom protects you, I will still beat you up. Can you expect Mom to always be around to protect you? When you're alone, I'll make sure to deal with you!"

Su Yucheng still wanted to complain, but hearing Su He's words, he was startled.

He often went out alone, and if Su He wanted to hit him, he couldn't really escape.

He was slower and weaker than Su He!

"Mom, look at him!" Su Yucheng complained.

Ye Chuanxiu said, "He Yazi, you can't hit him; he's your younger brother!"

Su He said, "Mom, are you spoiling him like this? He gets all the food and care, and you're still indulging him. It's not right to spoil him like this. He's disrespectful and talked badly to Little Pumpkin yesterday. Aren't you worried he'll turn out like those unreliable uncles? Can you support him for life?"
