Private Plane (2025): Amina Smith
"Ms. Kamala!" Amala shouts as she runs up to hug Kamala who is already on the plane speaking to the pilot. She stops when she hears Amala and turns around to catch her in her arms. The two are already acting like they have known each other for years instead of a day.
"Hey sweetie!" Kamala says lifting her up so she is resting in her hip and I want to tell Kamala that she is past that stage of life, but the two look so happy so I'm going to let them have it. "I missed you! Where did you go?" Amala asks. "Aww I had to go do a little work, but now you are coming to Washington and we will get to see each other more" Kamala says and my daughter smiles brightly.
"I know! Can I come to the White House?" She asks making Kamala laugh. "Of course you can sweetie, I will give you a personal tour" she says and Amala hugs her even tighter.
I put our bags up as the two talk and I set up Amala's seat with a blanket and pillow because she might be full of energy right now, but soon as this plane takes off she will fall asleep. She always sleeps through trips that we take because she be too excited to sleep the night before.
Kamala eventually places Amala down because she needs to speak to finish speaking to the pilot and Amala immediately comes and hops into her seat. "You about to go to sleep Peaches?" I ask as she places the blanket over herself. "No, I am going to talk to Ms. Kamala" she says firmly making me smile. Her eyes are already closing.
"Okay baby" I say putting her headphones over her head so she will not be interrupted by the sounds of the plane. Soon I am greeted by her soft snores. As the plane gets ready to take off, Kamala comes back out and sits in the seat across from me and starts looking through her tablet so I am guessing she doesn't want to talk which is fine by me. I still can't believe she hung up on me!
I put on my headphones as the plane takes off and my mind drifts off to the soothing sounds of Sade. I don't know how long it has been before she is suddenly pulling my headphones off and I look up at her like she has lost her mind.
