As George had predicted, Angelina was furious that Harry had landed himself in further detentions. She confronted him at breakfast and was so angry that Professor McGonagall had to come over and break it up. Then, when she was told about Harry's detentions, she deducted points from Gryffindor and stormed away. With a nasty look at Harry, Angelina followed suit.
'She's taken points off Gryffindor because I'm having my hand sliced open every night! How is that fair, how?'
'I know, mate,' said Ron sympathetically, tipping bacon onto Harry's plate. 'She's bang out of order.'
Gwen reached forward and squeezed Harry's right hand with her own. For a split second, they both looked at the scars sliced deep into their hands, then they let go.
Hermione very obviously rustled the pages of her Daily Prophet.
'What, you think McGonagall was right, do you?' said Harry angrily, staring at the picture of Cornelius Fudge that Hermione's face was hidden behind.

She started by ordering Seamus to hand out their marked homework and getting Lavender to hand out the box of mice, something which she was not pleased about. McGonagall hadn't even finished what she was saying before Umbridge interrupted.
'Ahem,' she said, in the same way she had when she had interrupted Dumbledore on their first night back. Professor McGonagall, however, ignored her. Seamus was coming round with the homework, and, to Gwen's relief, she had an E.
McGonagall continued addressing the class, telling them that they would be upgrading their Vanishing Spells from snails to mice, when Umbridge made her throaty noise again.
'Yes?' said Professor McGonagall, turning around, her eyebrows extremely close together.
'I was just wondering, Professor, whether you received my note telling you of the date and time of your inspec--'
'Obviously I received it, or I would have asked you what you are doing in my classroom,' said Professor McGonagall, turning her back on Umbridge. Many of the students exchanged gleeful looks. 'As I was saying, today we shall be practising the altogether more difficult vanishment of mice. Now, the Vanishing Spell--'
