Chapter 1

Y/N POV

My horse aggressively shook its head while snorting in protest as the snowstorm around us became even stronger.

Ellie: Our horse won't push on for much longer!

She claimed in a worried tone, while clinging on to me from behind.

Y/N: We're almost there, right Zack?

Zack: Yeah, I think I can see the church in the distance.

The group's leader said, riding his horse and leading the group behind him.

Lee: The kids are freezing, we need to find shelter, now!

Y/N: Look, it's right there. I can see it.

I claimed, pointing my finger at the church that we came closer to every second.

Zack: Alright, everybody in, come on.

He demanded as we pushed the doors of the church open to let the group get inside after getting off our horses.

Kenny and Michonne carried Larry into the church on a stretcher.

Michonne: He didn't make it. It was too cold out there.

Zack: That's a damn shame...listen up, people. We lost a very valuable man today...a man that sure as hell had a bad temper but he was always somebody that we could rely on. And I swear y'all one thing...if I had the chance to switch places with him...I would. Unfortunately, I cannot do that, which means that you guys will have to remain here while Y/N and I go out there and find out where the hell Steve went.

Lilly: Oh, so you wanna keep Steve safe but you let my father die?!

She snapped.

Zack: Calm down, Lilly. I know how it feels to lose a loved one but let's not turn on each other, okay? I did the best I could and-

Kenny: The best you could?! How many of our own did we lose on the way here, huh?!

Lee: Clem almost died because you led us through a river full of walkers!

Carley: You forced me to leave my own brother behind!

Glenn: What about my kid?! You sold it to those bandits, so we could pass their fucking forest!

I could see Zack's anger building up, so I stepped in to stop them from provoking him further.

Y/N: Alright guys, that's enough! You got food, water, clothes, fire and a safe place to stay, which is more than could be said for most. We lost people, I know that hurts but we will continue to lose em, that's just how life is nowadays, now Zack here did his best, and I can guarantee that he would protect all of you with his life.

I said as I laid my hand on Zack's shoulder.

Y/N: How about we all just be thankful that one man put all of our lives on his own back and led us to a safe place?

Luke: That's easy to say if you're Zack's golden child!

Jane: He's right, Zack treats you and Steve better than anybody else here!

Carley: Y'all get more food than all of us combined!

Kenny: How is that fair?!

Two shots were fired into the air which made everyone fall quiet again.

Y/N: You're all gonna shut the fuck up, or the third shot will hit one of your stupid foreheads!

I threatened, aiming my smoking gun at the group.
