CHAPTER FOURTEEN | Boo'd Up

Me and Ashtray had our challenges, like any couple, but it was our commitment to each other that saw us through every storm. I would sometimes reminisce about the early days, realizing just how far we had come and cherishing every moment of our journey together. No matter what happened, we always found our way back to each other, stronger and more united.

I marveled at how Ashtray could turn the mundane into something magical. A simple movie at home could feel like a five-star dining experience because of the genuine connection and love we shared. Ashtray's presence was like a safe harbor, a place where I could be their true self without fear or pretense.

Some nights as we lay beside Ashtray, My heart was full of gratitude and love. I realized that the label "boo'd up" wasn't just a term of endearment; it was a testament to our journey, reflecting a bond that was as enduring as it was profound. I cherished every second of being boo'd up with him.

The car ride had started off as an exhilarating and carefree moment, with me and Rue belting out the lyrics to "Hit Em Up" by Tupac. The bass thumped through the car speakers, and I could feel the energy from everyone, especially Rue sitting next to me in the back. Fez was focused on driving, and Ashtray, always the vigilant one, sat in the passenger seat, his hands busy with his gun. He held a dangerous look that somehow seemed attractive to me.

But the vibe shifted dramatically when I caught Rue out of the corner of my eye, her head down and eyes glazed as she tried to secretly sniff some drugs. I felt a surge of anger and disappointment. Without thinking, I slapped her head. "You bitch," I snapped, my voice cutting through the loud music. "What?" Rue's eyes met mine, confusion mingling with annoyance. "You know better than to sniff shit in front of me," I scolded her, my voice firm.

"Yeah, okay," she muttered, but I could tell she didn't really care.

I sucked my teeth in frustration and turned to gaze out the window. All the excitement and joy I had felt moments before evaporated. The rhythm of Tupac's voice continued in the background, but I didn't feel like singing anymore. Rue had ruined the moment for me, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of being utterly pissed off. The world outside the window blurred as my thoughts spiraled into irritation, the car ride now feeling like a long, uncomfortable journey rather than the epic adventure it had started as. Rue kept singing though. In fact she sang even louder.
