A/N - Today's post is massively inspired by the most relatable song that I've heard in some time, Slim Pickins by Sabrina Carpenter. This one is set a few years after Reader met Robin at college. I hope you all enjoy it.

You flopped down onto the couch with a deep sigh, throwing your legs up into Robin's lap, your heels still hanging precariously from your feet.

"So, I'm guessing it didn't go too well, then," she hummed, reaching out for the remote to switch off the TV, giving you her full attention.

"I'm going to die alone," you murmured, pressing a throw cushion into your face as you released a high-pitched cry of frustration.

Robin hesitated for a moment. "So, it really didn't go well, then, huh?"

You grumbled softly as you sat up to look at her, brows furrowed. "How hard is it for a guy to be attractive and kind? Why do all the hot ones have to be total douchebags?" You flumped back again, listening to the soft snort of laughter that Robin released and immediately shooting back up to glare at her. "I'm not kidding. I swear, if the perfect guy exists, he must be hiding or something because I've not found him."

"Don't you think you're being a little drama-"

"I am not being dramatic," you interjected. "I'm going to die alone because all men suck," you pressed on, falling back onto the couch again and releasing another deep sigh. "I swear, life would be a whole lot easier if the Good Lord had made me like women-"

"Believe me, being gay isn't all it's cracked up to be either," Robin chuckled. "Sometimes I think women are worse than men," she added, giving your knee a nudge. "Come on, the guy couldn't've been that bad, right?"

You shrugged slightly. "He was an asshole. Treated the waiters like shit and then tried to tell me that he was a real believer in traditional relationships." You paused for a moment, shaking your head. "I don't even really know what that means, but I'm pretty sure it means he would've hate-crimed you if he got the chance," you pressed on.

"Okay, yeah, he's probably not the right guy," Robin hummed. "But this is only like the 5th guy you've been out with, right? Everyone's got to kiss a couple of frogs to find their prince-"

"But, I don't want to kiss any frogs. I was Prince Charming," you grumbled, interrupting her midsentence. "Dating sucks. I'm not doing it anymore. I quit."

Robin released a soft sigh, patting your leg lightly to make you release her from her spot on the couch.

You grumbled softly to yourself as she made a hasty escape to her bedroom, leaving you slumped down on the couch.

"Robin, come on, I'm sad," you called out to her, hearing her chuckle lightly before she began whispering in the other room. "Robin, please," you pressed on. "I need someone to bitch to."

You turned over, pressing your face into the back of the couch, waiting impatiently for Robin to return to listen to your grouchy moaning.

"Okay," she announced, causing you to nearly jump out of your skin. "I've got a proposition for you," she pressed on, finally reaching you and pulling you onto your back by the elbow. "I've got this friend from back in Hawkins who's just moved to Indianapolis and is starting to date again. He's a really good guy-"

Your brow furrowed slightly. "Is he cute?"

She shrugged slightly. "I don't know. I think so," she pressed on. "I mean, he's attractive for a guy, I guess."

"Okay."

"I asked if he would be okay with me setting him up with a friend. He seemed pretty open to the idea."

"Mhm-"

"So, I want you to go out with him. I think he'll be good for you."

You let out a soft sigh. "I don't know, Rob. What if it all goes tits up? He's your friend."

"It's not going to go tits up. He's nice. He's cute. I'm pretty sure he's your type; even though I'm not 100% sure what your type is."

You hesitated for a moment. "What's his name?"

"Steve," she answered quickly. "I promise you, you won't regret it."

You shuffled awkwardly as you waited at the entrance to the restaurant, a full 15 minutes early for your date. It was silly how nervous you felt about this one in particular, but it felt like there was more to think about. What if he didn't like you? What he was mean and you had to break that to Robin? What if he thought you were heinous and he told Robin that he hated you and then she stopped being your friend?

"Y/N?"

You jumped slightly, turning on your heel to find one of the most beautiful men you had ever seen staring back at you.

"Steve?"

A small smile bloomed on his lips as he nodded. "That's me," he confirmed. "Wow, Robin told me you were pretty, but she didn't do you justice," he pressed on, letting out a soft chuckle. "Shit, that didn't sound as smooth out loud as it sounded in my head," he rambled, shaking his head.

"No, it was sweet," you corrected quietly. "Although, I will be having words with Robin for not selling me well enough," you teased, drawing a soft snort out of him.

"To be honest, I never thought she would be the matchmaker type; always refused to set me up with her college roommate-"

A soft chuckle slipped out of you. "I was her college roommate," you started, shaking your head in disbelief. "And, she told me that she didn't have any eligible bachelor friends," you pressed on.

"She's a nightmare," he hummed.

"An absolute terror."

*Time Skip*

"Robin," you called out as you made your way into your apartment, finding her curled up on the couch waiting for you.

"How'd it go?" she murmured, moving to sit up a little further, taking a good look at you.

You let out a soft chuckle, throwing your hands up in the air in disbelief. "I swear, I'm going to marry that man one day." You watched as her concentrated expression shifted, replaced by a bright grin. "You're an angel."
