A/N - This chapter was inspired by the song Here by Alessia Cara. For this one, the reader is Eddie's twin sister. I hope you all enjoy it.
P.S. Sorry that it's been a while since I posted; the mental health has really been mental health-ing recently.
You really shouldn't have let Eddie talk you into coming here tonight. You had known that the music was going to suck, and the people were going to be even worse, and even then, you had allowed him to give you those puppy dog eyes that had been tricking you into doing stupid things from the very first moment he had come into the world. You supposed that was the ability he had gained from being born exactly 12 minutes later than you had, turning out as your younger brother, even though you were twins. He could twist your arm without even trying and he'd been holding that power over you your entire life.
And tonight, he was supposed to be attending the party on his own, just coming along to sell a little bit of weed and then heading home for a movie marathon of shitty horror movies. But no, he's lured you into coming with him with the promise of stopping to pick up candy on the way home, and then he'd disappeared into the crowd, leaving you stranded in the corner, looking and feeling, bored out of your mind.
"You know, if you keep frowning like that your face is going to get stuck like it," a voice hummed, and you glanced out the corner of your eye to find Billy watching you with a small smirk. Ever since he'd been assigned to your little tutoring sessions by his English teacher, he'd been hovering around you like a fly on shit, and it was starting to get a little frustrating how he managed to seek you out even when you were trying to remain hidden.
"I saw it happen once," he pressed on, lifting his hand to gesture at his face. "Pretty sure that guy from the Goonies, you know, the one with the face-"
"Sloth," you supplied, still refusing to actually turn to look at him.
He clicked his fingers. "That's the one. Well, I'm pretty sure Sloth was based on this guy. Spitting image, really-"
"Do you need something?" you interrupted, finally caving and twisting to glare in his direction.
Billy shrugged slightly. "You looked bored, Sweetheart, thought I'd come and keep you company," he told you. "Thought you weren't coming, anyway."
"Eddie asked me to come," you told him.
"Eddie?"
You craned your neck, spotting Eddie on the other side of the room, clearly in the middle of striking a deal, and Billy's eyes followed your gaze.
"That guy?" He scoffed quietly. "Didn't realise that was your type, but I guess you-"
"Oh God, gross," you bit, cutting him off before he could continue with whatever he was going to say. "Eddie's my brother," you pressed on. "Jesus."
"Oh shit," he snorted, biting back a full laugh. "Well, that's a relief," he added, watching as your brow furrowed.
"A relief?"
He shrugged slightly. "Yeah. I mean, what are the chances that you'd think a guy like that's hot and you'd still give me the time of day? At least this way I've still got a shot."
You hesitated for a moment, rerunning the sentence through your mind again as he watched you. "What?"
Billy cleared his throat. "I've always been partial to an older lady," he told you, drawing a snort of laughter out of you.
"I'm not even a full year older than you," you chuckled, shaking your head in disbelief.
"And yet," he pressed on. "I've still got the hots for you pretty damn bad," he confessed.
"Billy-" you started, your words trailing off into a soft sigh.
He held up his hands, stopping you from even beginning to shoot him down. "I'm not asking you to do anything heinous, alright, Sweetheart? I just wanted to know if you wanted to go out sometime. We could go to that diner over on Main, you said they do the best shakes in town, right?"
You swallowed down your nerves, releasing a deep breath. "Best in the county," you corrected. "But it has to be Monday to Thursday, those are the only days Gladys works and she makes them the best," you pressed, watching as a small smile pulled at his lips.
"Is that a yes?"
You bit down on your bottom lip, your eyes flicking away from him for just a second as you fought to keep your composure. "It's a yes," you told him. "But only if you pass your midterm."
"Oh, Sweetheart, I'm going to ace that test," he confirmed, his grin spreading from ear to ear.
