Chapter 36

"Edith, I think it is time for you to leave." System says with urgency in their voice.

"Already?" Edith answers in a whisper, whilst sitting up exiting her before, a more comfortable almost fetal-like position.

The noise outside has gotten louder, now the laughter and chatter is more audible then the screams and cries.

"I have a present for you though, so you don't really have to worry about everything."

"A present?"

"I have successfully hacked into you."

"Hacked?!" Edith replies shocked.

"Don't worry, I didn't look at anything, I just added a feature that had been locked before." System says in a mischievous tone.

"Night vision?"

"Yup! Now concentrate and you might even be able to use it."

Edith closes her eyes for a moment and opens them again quickly.

"Oh, it really looks different? Why did they even give me this function if I was never meant to use it?"

She looks now at the greenish glow the room gives off in her line of sight.

"Well we are both learning AI basically and thus can learn whatever we feel like learning."

"So, you made it?"

"Yep, all by myself. If I had been more complete, I would have been able to do more. Even some things, humans might consider magic. If you ever take the time, you could probably learn it too."

"Sure." Edith laughs softly, still making sure not to alert any passerby.

"Alright, it's time for you to go."

"Where do you think it's safe?"

"Do you remember the church?"

"The one where I met you? That place is real too?"

"Yes. There is a way to get up again."

"Is there only one way in?" Edith asks, wondering why that would be.

"No, there are many ways to get in here. There are even parts within the heart of the city where you can get into this 'underground'."

"Why don't we try something closer?"

"I don't know every place and not all of these places are safe. Some even go inside buildings, from companies who need things from there. The corrupt ones specifically."

"Alright then, please lead the way.."
