xv. i love you, i'm sorry

i knew - lizzy mcalpine
“i knew when you looked up at me, this was were i was meant to be. so why, why did you have to go?”

you fell in love with me even with tears and messy hair
when i was crying my eyes out over someone who didn't care

they were convincing enough, i believed it was my fault they never noticed me
going without their praise for long, i always wore long sleeves
but with you, it felt so different, just like the yellow you painted for me

i wasn't worried that you'd go elsewhere
because you met me at my worst
and i'm not aware that i've ever treated you unfair
so how was it possible for you to leave first?
wasn't i good enough to be more than some love affair?

again, i'm taking the blame out on the passing time
so now the days fly by, and i just want to belong somewhere

on a never ending flight, i'm a blind passenger in a forest catching fire
dancing with our failed connection and forever broken wires

i swear it felt like you fell in love with me
but why did you ever, if you intented to leave?

it was obvious that you planned on slow-fading
but i was oblivious, and kinda thought you'd be remaining

yet the only thing remaining were two words without a meaning,
you promised that you loved me, but that it wasn't the right timing
