Carlos pov:
That afternoon, I quickly set up at Y/N and I's favourite picnic spot, the one by the enchanted lake. I had brought two chairs and a small table for us to eat on. I felt horrible lying to her about making this, as I just used magic to make her favourite foods, but the smile on her face when she got there made it all worth it.
"Would you likea hot hors d'oeuvre?" I offered, as she sat down.
"Yes, please." She smiled, and she ate it from my hand. "Mmm!This is the best thingI've ever had."
"So, you like it?" I happily sighed.
"I more than like it." She reached over and grabbed another hot hors d'oeuvre. "I...mmm... double like it. Is that beef ragout?" She gasped, pointing at another dish.
"Yeah." I smirked.
She took a bite out of it and grinned at me. "This is amazing."
"Did I surprise you?" I asked, putting my hand on hers.
"Oh, yeah, you surprised me.This is every single dish Mrs. Potts made for my parents." She chuckled. "What did it take you? Three days?"
"You know, don't even ask me." I smiled.
"Yeah.Well, it means a lotthat you stoppedand did all this for me." She said, taking my hand, and I immediately felt so guilty. "Especially with allthe craziness you've beenput through.I've missed you.We don't get much timeto be just us anymore."
"I know." I sighed. I reached over and wiped her bottom lip.
"You can't take meanywhere, right?" She giggled and we both laughed. "Do you have a...do you have a napkinor something?" She suddenly asked.
"I do!I packed some." I nodded, reaching down to grab some out the basket, but I suddenly remembered they were on the table. I glanced up and saw Y/N reaching into the basket already. "I can grab them." I said, but it was to late, she had already found the spell book.
"What's this?" She asked.
I nervously chuckled. "I actually threw that in theresuper last-minutein case it rained or-"
"Speed reading spell." Y/N interrupted. "Brunette hair spell. Cooking spell." She glanced up at me looking confused and a tiny bit hurt. "And I was giving you propsfor fitting in so well, for doing your best." She scoffed.
I panicked, I really did, so I tried to spell her, so she'd forget it. "Take back this momentthat has passed.Return it, Reverse it-"
"Are you tryingto spell me right now?!" She snapped, standing up.
"Y/N, it has beenso hard for me!" I tried to explain.
"Yes! Some things are hard!" She shouted. "Do you think having to rule a country for a few months with no experience whatsoever has been easy for me?"
"No!" I said, biting my lip.
"I thought we weredoing this together!" She sighed.
"Y/N, we are in this together." I spoke, grabbing her hand.
"But we're not, Carlos." She frowned, pulling her hand away. "We're not. Y-You've been keeping secretsand lying to me. I thought we weredone with that. This isn'tthe Isle of the Lost, Carlos."
"Yeah. Believe me, I know that!" I snapped.
"Then whyare you doing this?" She asked.
"Because...I'm not one of those brave, charming princes, Y/N.I'm not one of those lords from the Court.I'm a big fake, okay?" I sighed. "I'm fake. This is fake. This is fake." I frowned, tears stinging my eyes. "Take this feast, this sumptuous meal, return it backto what is real." The meal turned back into what it originally was, a glass of water and a peanut and jelly sandwich. "This iswho I really am."
