Chapter 17 - Lucky, Worthy, Weak

Three days later...

Hook, Smith, Jessica and Tarian managed to reach Tormans Port in the spand of three whole days. It was the closest from where they were.

Hooks leg was better. Smith bought new glasses and from what it seems, Tarian had a ship. A big one. He hadn't told Jessica anything. It was a surprise, he said.

And he also had a crew. Who could have thought that little Tarian was a Captain? He was younger than Jessica and Hook but smarter.

"And why did you accepted when I asked you to be part of my crew?"

"I kind of liked you from back then..." He said and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"So you left your ship, hat and crew to travel with me?" Jessica asked him. The hat was a very important thing for a pirate. It was to remind everyone who was in command.

"My ship was mine and my crew wouldn't go anywhere without me. But if I had rejected your offer back then.. I could have lost my chance with you" He told her. Jessica and Smith teared up. Hook was on the urge to throw up. "As for my hat..." He said and picked a hat from the helm of the ship. "It's right here" Tarian put it on. Jessica grabbed his shirt, pulled him closer to her and kissed him. Tarian smiled and pulled his hat infrond of them so that the others couldn't see them.

Hook rolled his eyes and walked away, dragging Smith with him. He sighed and sat down with his back at one of the wooden pillars that supported the ship's rigging. "Are you okay me Captain?"

"I'm not worthy to be called a Captain Smith" Hook said and pulled his hat from his head and threw it at the ground.

"Why are you saying that? You're the bravest pirate I know" Smith slowly picked his hat up and held it.

"No I'm not... Im not the bravest, I'm the luckiest"

"I don't understand" Smith said.

"I've survived so many times from so many dangers, not because of bravery but because of luck" He continued, "You've seen it yourself. If Jessica hadn't found us we would have died on that island"

"But she wouldn't have found us if we were still tied on those trees at the other side of the island"

"This is just one scenario in a hundred"

"James. Pull yourself together" He said and Hooks eyes widen. He lifted his head up and looked at Smith. "I've known you almost your whole life and never have I heard you say such stupid things"

"Smith-"

"Let me finish please" He told him and continued, "I didn't agree to be part of your crew because you were lucky. Tinkerbell didn't choose you to protect and take her back to her homeland because you looked lucky. And Jessica didn't find and saved us because you seemed lucky to her.

"You're brave and smart and skillful. I don't know why you doubt yourself right now but this is not the boy I met years ago. You've changed. You've become weaker"

This word triggered Hook. He stood up almost immediately and grabbed Smith from the hem of his shirt. "I've not become weaker..."

"Seems to me like you have" Smith said and Hook exhaled angrily.

"Smith, I respect you. But right now, if you keep talking, I'll throw you to the sea with a bloody nose"

"Aye, aye Captain" Smith said smiling. Hook sqeezed his eyebrows but the realization hit him like a rocket.

He let go of Smiths shirt and patted his shoulder. "Thanks Smith. I needed that"

"I just did my job me Captain"
