The knight family annual halloween ball was praised by every person that attended it. Every year without fail, the event would be spoken about for weeks following, the buzz dying down ever so slowly.

The man behind the celebrated event, Roger Knight, was a man of honour. He held the ball each year in the hopes to elevate his social status even further. As if the millions in which he held in his bank account and the multiple businesses that he owned wasn't already enough.

It was a particularly prestigious event, if you didn't get invited, you didn't attend and it was extremely difficult to get invited to. He only wanted people who would promote his position of power or would make his ever growing wallet larger. If he was seen with anybody that would tarnish his reputation in any way shape or form he would make sure that they regretted it.

Most of the people invited to this ball were thrilled to even have been considered but there were the few that would rather anything than to attend. Surprisingly the people who wished they could be anywhere else, were the people 'closest' to Roger. His children were dragged there every year no matter how much they begged not to attend. His daughter Autumn had always been feisty, it had been a trait that he hated in her, it reminded him far too much of their mother. She would fight him on having to go but every time she would give in, no matter how strong she was there was a part of her that was still scared of her father. The little girl that shied away in the corner during his violent outbursts, that cried for hours on end after an argument with him, was still inside of her. His son however had only fought him once or twice on the matter, too exhausted with his games to fight back.

Now although it would seem as if the two siblings were the least excited to attend you would be sorely mistaken. The two women that despised attending were Mia and Siobhan. Mia was his puppet, his spy, who he had manipulated and moulded her over the years, creating an unrecognisable version of herself. She was forced to go in case Roger needed her services, in case there was somebody that needed taking care of for him and she hated it. She was also obliged to attend due to the fact that she was dating his son, Reece. There was a time that the two got along, in fact that loved eachother but the love between them had been lost a long time ago, purely because of Roger. Mia had never wanted to get with Reece, it physically repulsed her having to be with him but that wasn't because he was a bad guy, he wasn't, she just didn't love him like that. He was her best friend and her partner in crime for so long before Roger dug his claws into her and forced her into a relationship with her son. He had changed her far beyond repair and Reece could sense that but there was something that was keeping the two of them together. Maybe it was that they weren't comfortable with change?

Siobhan hadn't know Roger all that long, in fact they had been together for less than a year. She would have been lying if she said that she didn't get with him for the money but she did what she had to to survive. Before she had gotten with the older man she had been pulling on every last thread trying to pay for rent, but he had saved her from that. She felt guilty for the fact that she wasn't grateful, she hated the man with her entire being. He had treated her like a queen once, but it was as if something switched in his brain and now he treated her as if she was the dirt on the bottom of his shoe. Although he abused her and belittled her behind closed doors, in public they looked like the perfect couple, like they were made for each other. He wore her on his arm like an expensive piece of jewellery, dressing her up like a prize for ready for auction whenever they left their home. She wasn't one for attention at all, she hated having all eyes on her which made her hate even the thought of attending the ball.

This night she had been told that she would be arriving with Roger to the ball she felt her entire body drop with disappointment. She had known it was coming but she had put it off in her mind for so long in the hopes that the day would never come. To make matters worse, Roger had chosen her costume for her. He was a very controlling man, every outfit that she wore, every item that she brought, every plan that she made had to be approved by him, that is why she wasn't surprised when he told her he would be choosing her costume. What she hadn't expected though was that he would make her wear something so revealing.
