The next few weeks consisted of Nate spending most of his time at Kim's house, or her at his. He was worried they were being followed, but he didn't want to worry her. Kim's mom still wasn't the most fond of him, but she hadn't outright said anything about him staying over. Knowing that Kim would end up at his house anyway.

Kim was passed out on her bed and she had a peaceful expression on her face. Nate admired her, the way her mouth hung open slightly. Soft puffs of breath come out. She was adorable, he never wanted to lose her. He stood to go to the bathroom, his socked feet padding down the wooden hall.

"Nathan," Mrs. Wilson suddenly appeared.

"Holy.... Smokes." He jumps, heart pounding. "Hi."

"I hope you're being... Safe. With my daughter," she hinted. A serious look on her brow.

"We haven't-"

"Good." She turns to go back into her room but pauses. "Don't fuck this up, please." The door closes behind her. Nate lets out the breath he was unknowingly holding in. He thinks that's the first time he's heard her mom drop an F-bomb. Continuing his journey to the bathroom.

When he finally makes his way back to Kim's room, she's half awake and rubbing her eyes. "Hey," she mumbles.

"Hey, good sleep?" He smiles.

"Yeah."

"Your mom thinks we're having sex."

That seems to have caught her off guard, Kim starts coughing, nearly choking.

Nate laughs, "Sorry."

"Warn a girl first, I'm still asleep basically," She says after she recovers. "And I mean we almost did."

"Yeah, almost."

"If I wasn't drunk... Would you have?"

"I already told you-"

"You told me that you wanted to, eventually."

"Yeah, that's still true."

"But I mean, in that moment. Would you have?"

"If you weren't drunk? Maybe."

Nate and Kim lay side by side on the bed, the atmosphere lightened by the playful but serious banter that danced between them. The tension from their earlier conversation dissipated, leaving room for a more comfortable connection.

"Why maybe?" Kim asked, her eyes filled with curiosity.

Nate chuckled, running his fingers through his hair. "I didn't want to do that in Luke's laundry room of all places."

Kim's eyes widened, and she let out a laugh, "Oh! Yeah, good call."

Nate shifted closer, his tone turning more serious. "I don't know if you noticed, but I am very attracted to you."

Kim winked and kissed his cheek, a mischievous smile on her face as she settled back on the bed. The two of them continued to exchange banter, the playful energy filling the room.

As they lounged around, Nate found himself reflecting on the evolving nature of their relationship. Beyond the physical attraction, there was a genuine connection that seemed to deepen with every passing moment. The unspoken desire lingered, casting a subtle tension in the air.
