it was the weekend, so i took my kids to the gym while my wife was at the studio with tianna. halo, taylor, and pai pai came with me.
most of the exercises i had them doing was light work to halo and taylor since they play sports already. pai pai would lift one weight and say she finished.
"alright, my lovely kids. are yall ready for the workout?"
"mama, why is she even here? she dont put in no work." halo asked, pointing at paisley.
"because i can be. why are you here?" she rolled her eyes and neck, ow?
"shut up, dummy."
"aye boy, watch ya mouth."
"i meant to say...okay, little sister." he so fake.
"yeah thats right, listen to ya mama and watch that mouth."
"leave my son alone, paisley."
"he's messing with me."
"how about both of yall leave each other alone. let's go outside and get these laps in."
they already knew the routine, so i didn't need to remind them every time it was just a habit. in the midst of running, my students started coming in. this time, i had high school seniors instead of middle schoolers. over the past few years, i been getting the babies, i was ready to train the big guys, so here we are going on 3 years of training. 1 year to go, and they up out of here.
"ayo wassup coach."
"whats up, big heads. go put them bags down and come right back out."
they walked inside and came out seconds later and stood in the lot, waiting for me to give instructions. i change the lap numbers every day, so they never know what i got up my sleeves.
"mama!" i heard crying and looked over at paisley, who was limping while holding her knee.
her whole knee was scraped to the white meat with blooding trailing down her leg.
"what happened?!"
"he pushed me down."
"who?"
"taylor!"
"mama, she was in my way."
"and you thought putting your hands on her would be the best option? you just hold on a minute— aight all of you, give me forty laps, ill be right back out."
i went inside and took taylor in my office for a few and came back out.
"tell her!"
"im s-sorry for pushing you p-pai pai."
"i dont accept your apology yet" well atleast she said yet, which means she will at some point just not now.
"wipe yo face." i told him in a stern tone. he knows better. "go sit down at my desk. don't pick up that ipad or phone, goodbye."
i cleaned and wrapped paisleys knee before she went to lay on the couch i had in my office. it was just me and halo now. we went back outside.
after training, we left the gym. i stopped and got them something to eat along with tianna, me, and fantasia. i talked to her earlier, and she said they were on the way to the house. i dropped taylor off first and called gabby to my car.
"hey, what's up?"
"no phone, ipad, or game for him for a week."
"but mama, that's not fair. she was in my way."
