Star Crumb

There are things that hurt more than rejection
I can't let myself feel it more
Than what happens inside my head
Milliseconds feel like years
When I think and think and think and think

Pauses in conversations become voids
In which words can't form bridges
Yelling from the other side
Hovering on the edge trying to reach
Hoarsely I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, I'm here

Swimming in the deepest of shallows
Waiting for what seems inevitable and sad
Selfishly wanting to be most important
But knowing I'm a pebble among many
Thrown again and again and again and again

Slammed into the roaring silence
Breaking into smaller tiny pieces
Undone by the ignorance of unknowing
Pushed aside by other brokens
We're the same, the same, the same, the same

Believing that just one look or word
From others deciding our worth
Make us believe we are more
A star crumb in a vast sea
Breaking together, together, together, together

When I think
Hoarsly I'm here
Thrown again
We’re the same
Breaking together
