✎ 001 ; CHAPTER ONE
"Wow! You've changed so much through the years, welcome back Y/N!" Sugawara warmly spoke, placing a hand on my shoulder. It feels odd, the last time I saw them, we were all around the age of 5-10.
"Thank you, thank you." I repeated over and over again, praise after praise coming from Sugawara and Tanaka. My gaze met Kageyama's gaze, and it lasted for a while before I finally mustered enough courage to speak up.
"How have you been?" Was the only thing I could manage to say, there's so much I had to tell him, he probably had so much to tell me too, but it wasn't the time, and I couldn't figure out where to begin.
His body stiffened in place, freezing. His eyes darted towards the exit door, and as I was still processing things, he ran off, without even looking behind him.
"Huh?" We all said in unison. "Why'd he ran off?" Tanaka questioned, raising an eyebrow in confusion. I was quite puzzled, I knew that'd be hard to get him back like it used to be, but I didn't imagine the possibility of him just storming off.
"He's not believing what he just saw. He needs time to process by himself." Sugawara stated, after getting lost into his thoughts for a few moments. He glanced at me with his signature smile, and patted my back.
"Come on, don't make that face. It's not like he can ignore you forever anyway." He added, following by a gentle laugh. His laugh was contagious enough to make all of us do the same.
"Yeah, I guess so.." The end of my sentence was almost inaudible. I lowered my head and stared at the floor, but quickly composed myself and spent the rest of the day with them, playing volleyball and chatting to make up for lost time.
"I'll see you guys at school tomorrow! Hope we got classes together Shoyo." I loudly shout, waving goodbye as I exited the school gates. On the way back, my mind was elsewhere. I couldn't shake off Kageyama's reaction. I can't believe he just ran away.

"Y/N!!" Kageyama shouted, running towards me, his eyes giving an uneasy expression. I shifted my body to accept his embrace, the strongest hug we had shared yet, afraid to let the other go.
"You're not actually leaving me alone, are you?" His voice cracked, his eyes welling up when he was met with silence. I wasn't brave enough to respond, not yet.
