Ding!
It was a message from Oreo's team leader.
<Hey, Oreo, meet our new team member! She's a perfect replacement for that traitor. Meet at the lobby at 4pm>
<Alr, I'll be there>
Last week, one of their team members left them for a better team, and Oreo couldn't blame them. She didn't like this team anymore, really. They were pushy and the team leader always forced things on her. Oreo always found it surprising how people could find replacements so fast. It was 3:40pm right now, so she'd better get ready. She knew nothing about their new member, only that they were a "perfect replacement".
Over the week, she grew to accept the Octolings on the surface, since they probably weren't just going to leave any time soon, so she figured the ones who did come here wanted to be here for the good reasons.4:00PM
"Hey guys, I'm here. Who's our new member?" Oreo asks, looking around the Shoal, finding her team crowding over the new member. They split up and she was able to get a clear view of who it was.
Was that the Octoling that bumped into her last week?"Oh! Hi! I remember you from the other week! I'm sorry I just ran away like that, I uh....saw a squid behind who you looked creepy." Well that was a fantastic excuse.
"Oh, don't worry about it! I understand how you feel. So...shall we get to training? Oh! And my name is uh...Lillian?" The Octoling responds, seemingly forgetting her own name? Oreo didn't question it.
"Let's get on with it then. Don't make me get you to stay behind for three hours this time, Oreo!" The leader yells. Oreo groans and gets on with training.

After an hour or two, the team decided to try some competitive matches for a bit, and Oreo actually seemed to be having fun this time!
"Woah, that was great! Good job to our new member here, as well." Oreo says, nudging Lillian's arm.
"Oh, it's really nothing. I played a bit before meeting your team leader.....Say, how about we play one last match? A competitive one, too." Lillian suggests, looking for a challenge- well, that's what it was to Oreo.
"Uhh...alright. Any reason why?" Oreo asks, looking confused, and honestly wanting to take a break. It's been like, two to three hours of training with no breaks.
Lillian glanced at their team leader with a mischievous smile. They were plotting something.~~~~
It was about halfway through the match when Oreo noticed something odd. The design in their team's ink colour was slightly different to the other team's. Slightly...glittery? It was oddly familiar, it reminded her of the Octoling ink colour. No...Lillian was too nice for that. Maybe it's a thing the Octolings have with their ink? Wait...she is too nice for that. While Oreo had stopped in her tracks, zoned out thinking about the ink colour and her memories, Lillian snuck up behind her and shot her arm, despite them being on the same team. Suddenly Oreo felt an intense burning pain in her arm, yelling out from the pain.
She had felt this before.
Oreo quickly moved to the side, sitting down and cradling her arm. The ink wasn't her team's ink colour. It was magenta? Her eyes widened as she looked down at her arm. The ink "burned" through her clothes, and it almost looked like her skin was burning. She instantly knew what this was. High Tide Ink. The same one that could've killed her. And it still could now.
She turned around to face Lillian, who was looming over her with a menacing smile, the same ink dripping from her Octo Shot.
"Well, it's good to see you again. I didn't think you would survive after the last encounter we had, but here we are."
Oreo's eyes widened as she looked up at her. This was the same Octoling who attempted to kill her. This was the Octoling who murdered the last of her family.
"You..." Oreo muttered, fear in her eyes. However, her fear quickly turned into rage. She carelessly ignored her pain and shouted at the monster standing in front of her.
"Why?! WHY?! WHY WOULD YOU DO IT?! WHY ME? WHY HIM? YOU'RE A FUCKING MONSTER!" She yelled, tears beginning to stream down her face, getting her mask wet. She attempted to stand up, then having another blast of ink shot at the same arm, keeping her on the floor as she screamed in pain.
"At this point, after all these injuries and "pain" you've suffered, you may as well become the monster. I bet next time we encounter you'll be out to murder me. Or you already are." Lillian chuckles, mocking her. Just then, the match abruptly ended before the timer hit zero. Did someone notice the commotion?
"Looks like I've been caught. It's not over, though, Oliver. I'll be back, and the next time you see me, I'll be the last face you see." With that, Lillian fades away into darkness, as does Oreo's vision.
That name.
She hadn't heard that name in a long time.
She took it as a warning.
