Left Behind

It was two weeks later on a Sunday. Tonight was the night that Levi and Oreo would run away, although it was a few hours away yet. Levi was checking if they had everything- well, everything they could take, and Oreo was sitting on the floor, thinking about everything. No one's ever heard of Octarians on the surface before, so the fact that this note had somehow appeared out of the blue, it meant danger, especially if Oreo was Agent 3.

"There's somewhere I have to go today, before we leave tonight." Oreo piped up to her older brother.

"Be careful. You're not going to that agent place are you?" He responds.

"No, I just have to...say goodbye to a few friends. I'll be back in..maybe an hour? Don't run off without me!" Before another word could be spoken, oreo was out the door. Probably one of the last times she'll be coming back to that house. It was pretty difficult to think about.
Oreo lied once again to her brother. She had to visit them one last time, to tell them everything that happened, and that they would have to find a new agent. She didn't know how they would take it...it made her anxious thinking about all the possible situations. Yes, it was extremely risky going back there and leaving her older brother behind, but she had to tell them the whole situation, she couldn't leave them wondering if something happened to her or if she just...left.

Once oreo arrived, Cuttlefish looked concerned. Well, she was gone for two weeks without notice. The whole idea of having to leave your home behind was scary, even if she never liked it. Yes, she would be away from school, but she would never see the Squidbeak Splatoon again, she would never be in the comfort of her own home again as far as she thought. Levi and Oreo didn't know where they were going when they planned "run away", just somewhere far away from Inkopolis. Oreo mentioned Inkopolis Square because it was a place she dreamed of living in when she was old enough, but Levi disagreed against it because it was apparently too close.

After explaining the whole story to Cuttlefish, who would tell Agent 1 & 2, he looked horrified. Oreo got increasingly worried at his expression until he said she had to leave immediately and get back to her brother. It turns out she had been there for way longer than she'd hoped. Three hours. It was 7pm. Her heart dropped when Cuttlefish said what time it was and immediately left, saying a quick goodbye. There was no time to waste, not anymore. What if something happened to him? No...it was too early. She was only gone for a few hours, nothing could've happened in that time, could it?

Something could happen in that time.

And something did happen.

Oreo sprinted home, almost tripping on her feet. Her thoughts were the loudest things in her head the whole time she ran, thinking the worst. It was only until she made it to the front door that her eyes widened.

The door was wide open, the house was destroyed on the inside, clothes strewn across the floor, purple ink spread across the walls, and there lay Levi on the floor, clinging onto life.

She thought he would make it.

He didn't.

Oreo ran over to Levi, immediately sitting by his side, holding him in her arms. Tears ran down her face, falling onto his shirt which was covered in his blood. Was this it? Her last family member, the only one who was there for her, the one who cared for her, who basically raised her? Dead? In her arms? It didn't feel real. Nothing felt real, even though it unfortunately was. Despite the dread in the room, the pain, the fear, there was a weak smile spread across Levi's face. He looked up at his sister, the emotion in his eyes fading fast. With the power he had left, he said his last words:

"Leave me behind, live your life to the fullest. Don't let anyone get in your way. You don't need me anymore, you're stronger now."

"I love you, Oliver."

He went limp in her arms.

He was dead.
