Blood stained the carpet in Hayden's apartment. A murderer had struck the city, 21 people died, and one of those people was Hayden's dad. Hayden and his sister, Hazel,,were lucky enough to survive, but they needed a place to stay. The murderer was still out there, or so he thought. Red and Blue lights flashed as two men with handcuffs barged in. Hayden's body turned to a block of ice as he froze in place. They were rummaging around, looking for survivors. "Hello? Is anyone there?" A man called out. Hayden was petrified, but Hazel squeezed his hand tight, clinging on to him. "Eastbrook Police Department, come out with your hands up!" One of the policemen demanded. Hayden and Hazel had no choice, emerging from behind a bookshelf, hands up. "We come in peace!" Hayden said. He was panicking. "Don't worry, you kids are safe." Another policeman told them. Hazel sighed in relief while Hayden silently prayed nothing like this would ever happen again. "Come with us. We'll get you somewhere safe." The policeman said once again. Hayden grabbed Hazel's hand and they walked outside, and into the police car. "Where's dad?" Hazel asked. Hayden froze. "I...don't know. But I'm sure we'll find him soon." Hayden reassured Hazel as the policemen took them to safety.
