Listening to "Rumors" by Lee Brice such a good song
Hey, want to know something funny? When I was a little boy, I had this speech impediment that caused me to sound like I had a Boston accent. 100% true story, and even still today if I'm nervous or speak too fast it still slips out from time to time. Hey nobody's perfect, we all have our flaws, I'm just not ashamed to admit them. So that's my dare to you readers comment at least one flaw you have and your proud to own. I truly believe flaws are something that makes each person truly unique and we should embrace them.
So back to my story, we left of with me getting into a fight protecting my fast mouthed best friend Connor. I ended up beating up two members of the Varsity wrestling team one of which was the captain of the team and the wrestling coach who caught us after the fight basically coerced me into joining the wrestling team or starting out my first week of high school getting suspended. There I think you should all be caught up. So, imagine how it felt going to school the next day, once word got around about the fight. Yeah, it felt good walking into school after that, I mean I had random guys coming up to me high fiving me, girls looking at me provocatively even though I was the biggest oblivious virgin you could imagine. Sure, school as great but my home life was still shit. You got to understand I lived in a town with a population of 4,000 people, so word travelled fast.
After wrestling practice, I would reluctantly want to go home, my mother was depressed and constantly telling I'm no good like my father. The rare appearance my father was home he would be drunk and constantly picking fights with me or my mother. I would spend lots of nights at Connor's house even though he came from a broken home like me. I truly think that's why we bonded the way we did... we went through some of our darkest times together if that makes sense. It brought us closer because we were always there for each other no matter what. Anyways about one week later, things would change as my fame or infamy in you want to call it that, would grow even more in that small town.
It was a Friday, so all the football players were in their jerseys at school. Just like any Friday in high school everyone was talking about the game and where the after parties would be at. Connor and I decided we would go to one of the main parties, well I got invited actually by some upperclassmen and Connor just decided to tag along lol. We didn't even bother going to the game we just went straight to the party, once we got the text what the address was. So since neither of us were old enough to drive we snuck out and rode our bikes there. I know really classy right?
The party was packed, it was at someone's farm and the party was happening in the hay barn. Out of like the 100 people there Connor and I were the only underclassmen, and we stuck out like a sore thumb. I had on a pair of cowboy boots, jeans, an unbuttoned flannel shirt with a white tee shirt underneath, and this old ballcap I had for years that I just always wore. Connor I'll never forget had on this Manchester United jersey on, I remember laughing saying bro our school colors are blue, and gold and you wore something red bold choice. He was such a smartass and had a quick wit, I remember he said at least I don't look like an extra in a Brad Paisley music video. Damn Connor if you're reading this no, I love you and just know you're the only guy I know that has pushed my buttons past the point of no return and not get his ass kicked in my younger days.
Some upperclassmen handed us some red dixie cups filled with cheap beer, now I never drank before this point but when I looked over at Connor and saw he was chugging his, I was like oh damn. He just smiled and said I'm Irish what did you expect. So, I started drinking my first beer, and we joined the party. There was beer pong, and someone was jamming out their music on the aux chord of some speaker system. All the girls were dancing, while the guys watched. When all of a sudden Alicia the girl who I shared her pool with from the previous part was on the dance floor with her friends when she motioned over to me to come to her. All her friends who telling me to dance with her. Now for some reason grinding was really popular during the mid 2000's, so we started dancing to Shake ya Tail Feather. Everything was going well till near the end of the song all hell broke loose. Her ex-boyfriend yeah, the one who jumped me when I was younger was there and so was his friends.
