Yerin wandered through the mall, her eyes scanning the racks for the perfect dress. It had been a week since she last saw Hassan, and their recent lack of communication had been gnawing at her. As she rounded a corner, her gaze fell on Hassan and Ari, who were on the other side of the mall. They were laughing and giggling, clearly enjoying each other's company. The sight was like a punch to Yerin's gut, her heart sinking with a mix of anger and hurt.
Ari’s laughter was infectious, and Hassan seemed completely engrossed in the moment. Yerin stood frozen, her fists clenching at her sides as she watched the scene unfold. The anger bubbling inside her was too much to contain, and she quickly turned on her heel, striding out of the mall with a determined pace.

Outside, the cool air did little to soothe her burning emotions. She marched toward the parking lot, her mind racing with thoughts of Hassan and Ari. It felt like everything she had been trying to ignore was crashing down on her all at once.

Just as she was about to reach her car, Yerin accidentally bumped into someone. The collision nearly caused the grocery bags the person was holding to topple over. Startled, Yerin looked up to find Haneul standing there, a concerned expression on her face.
"Unnie? What’s wrong?", Haneul asked, her eyes narrowing in concern. "U look really upset."
Yerin opened her mouth to dismiss it, but Haneul's concerned gaze made her pause. She took a deep breath, trying to compose herself,
"It’s nothing. Just had a rough day."
Haneul wasn’t convinced,
"U’re clearly upset. Come on, let’s talk about it. I can see u’re hurting."
Yerin hesitated, her anger still simmering beneath the surface. But there was something in Haneul’s offer that made her reconsider.
"Okay...", she finally said, her voice carrying a hint of resignation.
"I guess I could use someone to talk to."
Haneul nodded, her expression softening,
"Great. Let’s head to my apartment. It’ll be quieter there, and we can talk without distractions."

They walked together, Haneul leading the way to her apartment. The grocery bags in her hands seemed to be forgotten as they chatted. Yerin’s mind was still swirling with thoughts of Hassan and Ari, but she knew she needed to let it out, and Haneul’s presence was a small comfort in the midst of her turmoil.

When they arrived at Haneul’s apartment, Haneul set the grocery bags aside and gestured for Yerin to sit on the couch. Yerin sank into the cushions, her shoulders heavy with frustration.
"Alright, spill it...", Haneul said, settling next to her, "...What’s going on?"
Yerin took a deep breath and began recounting everything to Haneul, her voice trembling slightly as she spoke. She described how she and Hassan met, their growing friendship, and eventually their deeper connection. She shared her feelings about Hassan, how they had been spending time together, and the mixed emotions she had been experiencing recently.

Haneul listened intently, her expression shifting from curiosity to concern. When Yerin finished, Haneul leaned back in her chair with a thoughtful look on her face.

"So....", Haneul said, a smirk playing at the corners of her mouth, "...u’ve been through quite a lot with Hassan. But let me ask u something. Are u sure u’re not in love with him?"
The question hit Yerin like a bolt of lightning. She froze, her eyes widening as she processed what Haneul had just asked. The realization hit her with a force she hadn’t expected. She had been so consumed by her emotions and the turmoil of the situation that she hadn’t taken a moment to fully understand what she was feeling.
Yerin stared at Haneul, her mind racing. She had always been hesitant to label her feelings, unsure whether it was just a deep attachment or something more. But as she reflected on Haneul’s question, it became clear that her feelings for Hassan were indeed something beyond mere friendship. It wasn’t just admiration or infatuation; it was something deeper and more profound.
"I…", Yerin began, her voice barely above a whisper, "..I didn’t think about it like that before. But now that u mention it… it does feel like something more than just a friendship."
Haneul’s smirk softened into a reassuring smile,
"It sounds like u’ve been holding onto some strong feelings for him. It’s okay to acknowledge that, unnie. Sometimes it’s hard to see things clearly until someone else points it out."
Yerin nodded slowly, her mind still processing the realization,
"I guess I was trying to ignore it, thinking it would make things easier. But now… it’s like everything is coming into focus."
Haneul reached out and placed a comforting hand on Yerin’s shoulder.
"It’s important to recognize ur feelings, even if they’re complicated. U've been through a lot, and it’s natural to feel this way. Just remember to take care of urself and make decisions that are best for u."
Yerin took a deep breath, feeling a mix of relief and sadness,
"Thank u, Haneul. I needed to hear that. It’s just so confusing right now."
Haneul nodded, offering a supportive smile,
"We’ll get through this. U’re stronger than u think, and u’ll find ur way. Just be honest with urself and take things one step at a time."
