Chapter 41

“Well I guess we can tell him.” Julia said, looking at me. I said, “What. He already knows it.” Steve was looking at us. “We are going to expose that Alice is a drug dealer and she sells it to her clients.” Julia said to Steve. 

   Steve exclaimed, “Wait. She is a drug dealer.” I said yes to him. I said, “You can help us.” He said, “Yes.” Julia said, “Alice has another phone. This means she buys and sells the drugs from that phone.” Julia added, “We need that phone. It's crucial for our case. We need to find that phone.” 

  But Alice has it. She hid it in the company.” Julia said, “Well we don't need the phone. We just need contacts. We need a hacker.” 

   I said, “But where will you find a hacker?” Steve said, “Well. I am a hacker too. I can hack it.” Julia asked, “Aren't you a lawyer?” Steve said smiling, “I am a lawyer by profession. I know many things. Hacking is one of them.” 

Julia and I looked at him shocked. I said, “So today Alice is going to have a party in her office as she is launching a new product.” Julia said, “We can grab this chance. We will go to her company. We need to distract Josh then.” I said, “Don't worry. I can do that.” Steve said, “I will hack the camera so that no one knows we were here.” 

   Julia said, “I will take care of Alice. Maybe I will mix a sleeping pill in her drink and lock her somewhere. We will have clear space.” I said, “This will work.” 

We started our plan. We reached towards Alice's company as it was night and the party started. The good thing was the party had face masks. Now no one will suspect us. Alice was drinking her whiskey. 

   Julia carefully mixed a sleeping pill in Alice's drink and gave it to her by a waiter. Alice drank the drink. It was a wonderful party. Steve was sitting in a quiet place all alone. He started to hack the cameras. It got disconnected. 

  Everything was going as per our plan. Alice went to the washroom and fainted there. Julia went behind her and locked her inside. Josh was searching for Alice. He was looking for her everywhere. 

   Suddenly the music started. The lights spotted on me and Josh. Everyone was cheering, “Dance together.” Josh held my hand and started to dance with me. We were dancing with each other.

  “I want you to remember me.” I said, moving my legs with him. He said, “Remember you, what do you mean?” He looked at me carefully and said, “You seem familiar.” He saw my eyes and said, “It’s you. The girl from the hospital.”

   He left my hand and moved away. I went towards him and started to dance with him. I said, “I have missed you and I am not going to leave you again. You didn't leave me when I hated you and when I didn't remember you. Now it's my turn.” 

  “This is all confusing, I don't remember it. Go away.” he said, pushing me. I said, “Not now and not later. I will stay with you always. We are meant to be together. You tried very hard and won me back. Now it's my turn.” 

  I said, “Try harder to remember me. This has happened before. We were dancing at the prom. When I had lost my memories and you danced with me.” We were dancing and suddenly I fell on him. 

  Our lips touched each other again. Same as we fell on each other at our prom. I stood up. The music stopped. I went away as everyone was glaring at me. Steve found Alice’s burner phone in her office. It was in a locker. Steve hacked the password of the locker and found it. He started to hack the phone.

Steve was trying to hack the system. The security layers were hard but Steve solved them. He used his coding and started to hack it. He successfully hacked the phone. He copied all the chats and contacts. 

   I found Julia. She said, “I locked Alice in the bathroom.” We went towards Steve. Julia asked, “Found something.” He answered, “Yes. I copied all the chats and contacts.” He showed us the chats and contacts of Alice. 

  I said, “Let's go quickly before anyone finds us.” Julia said, “Lets wipe out our traces so no one suspects us. I will open the door and let Alice sleep on one of the chairs.” Steve said, “Then I will connect the camera again and meet you outside.” 

     We erased our traces and went outside. I said, “Thank you for helping us, Steve.” Julia and I returned home. It was a wonderful night. But I was tense. “What if Alice found out about our plan? Will it work?”
