-------------Jisung was confused. Very, very confused. How did he end up in this situation?
Since he was 14, he thought he had anxiety. A doctor told him that. Everyone around him agreed, throughout his life.
Until someone didn't.
Someone saw that he had been misunderstood by a society of people that didn't understand the truth behind the way he was. They didn't know, so they couldn't see what it truly was.
It started when a new staff member brought it up, mistaking his behaviours for something other than anxiety.
And then when he mentioned it on a facetime with his mother, to which she said about how it confused her when he was diagnosed with anxiety. Mainly because these behaviours were ones he'd had all his life, even when he was very very young.
And then when he brought it up with Chan, who suggested he go to a doctor and speak about it. As it could of possibly been a misdiagnosis.
But how? It had been 10 years of basically being confirmed to have anxiety. Nothing else.
Until the doctor turned around and said that it was actually more likely that instead of it being an issue with his mental health, he had a lifelong disability.
They inevitably decided to get him assessed and somehow, he got diagnosed. With a completely different disorder than what he thought he had. Two, actually.
"Sungie, what's wrong?" Hyunjin asked, worried about his boyfriend who had just trudged his way into the dorm and towards his bedroom. "Baby?"
Hyunjin followed the path Jisung had taken towards his bedroom, approaching the door and placing his hand above the handle.
He would've just walked in, but instead he paused. He paused at the sound of small sobs coming from inside the room.
"Sung? Can I come in?" He spoke, gently but loud enough so Jisung could hear him.
Jisung, who wiped his tears roughly with his sleeves at the sound of his boyfriend's voice, replied soon after. "Um, okay."
That was obviously Hyunjin's cue to enter, and so he placed his hand on round handle and twisted it.
When he stepped slowly into the room, he didn't quite know what to expect. Although it certainly wasn't the scene he was presented with.
The room was dark, the only light coming in was what was drifting through the curtains. Jisung was sat in the centre of the hard, wooden floor with ripped paper scattered all around him. He was curled into himself, knees glued to his chest. His hands covered his face, as if he was hiding from something.
"Hey Hannie, what's happened?" Hyunjin stepped carefully into the room, approaching the distressed man slowly. "Did you have a panic attack? Or where you just really anxious?"
"No." Jisung basically snapped, as if the suggestion that he was anxious bothered him.
"Did going to the doctor upset you? I remember you saying you had an appointment today." Hyunjin asked, taking a seat in front of him but with a bit of space between them.
"No." He repeated, "It was my last appointment though."
"Oh, does this mean you got something back? A diagnosis or something?"
"...yes." Jisung muttered, hesitant.
That's when Hyunjin realised, it must've been something bad or at least unexpected. Especially considering Jisung had given him no details on the entire thing. He also figured that the paper must have what he got diagnosed with written on it, the same paper that was ripped up across the floor.
Slowly, Hyunjin peered around him as he carefully picked up each bit of paper to see if it had anything written on it.
He did that for a while, Jisung making no comments on his actions, until something caught his eye.
A piece of paper directly in his line of sight, with the letters:
A u t i s ...
And another piece nearby, with 4 clearer letters on it.
A D H D
Then it clicked. Jisung never had anxiety. He was autistic. And he had ADHD.
Explained a lot.
Jisung had all the answers to what was 'wrong' with him ripped up, around and in front of him.
"Oh baby..." Hyunjin spoke, taking Jisung's hands into his own. "You were misdiagnosed with anxiety, weren't you?"
Jisung just nodded, before adding. "Turns out I'm autistic instead. And I've got ADHD too."
"Yep, and there's nothing wrong with that." Hyunjin smiled, stroking one of Jisung's hands with his thumb.
"There isn't?"
"Of course not. My Sungie you are perfectly imperfect and being different is more than okay." Hyunjin told him, wanting to cry too as he watched Jisung's eyes fill with tears.
"Really?"
"Really." Hyunjin leaned and pressed a kiss on Jisung's lips, and smiling softly.
"I love you." Jisung whispered, kissing his lover again.
"I love you more, Hannie."
