The doorbell to the Cass house rang. They were all dressed up. Alice checked herself one last time before the door opened. Her action made the twins exchange glances and smile.

Alice smiled brightly when he opened the door before hugging Alice. This made the four children roll their eyes. Richard started with the introduction. He introduced the boys and Alice introduced the twins. Ryan smiled softly at the twins but quietly wiped it off before Ryder saw it.

“Alice and I will prepare lunch while you guys get to know each other” Richard said and walked away with Alice.

The four of them sat in the living room in silence, nobody said anything. The twins’ let their eyes wander around the sitting room.

“Fuck it” Ryder cursed and left the house. Ryan frowned.

“Dad is going to be mad at him” he muttered to himself.

“So we’re supposed to get to know each other” Ryan said.

“Are you okay with your dad marrying someone and getting new siblings?” Alexis asked. Ryan shrugged.

“I’ve always wanted a younger sibling so I don’t mind siblings. Then I’ll just have to adjust to dad marrying someone” Ryan said.

“Ryder isn’t keen on the idea of new family members and I totally understand him.” Alex said.

“He prefers to be called Ry” Ryan nicely said.

“Mom’s death five years ago changed him but he’s very nice and caring” Ryan added.

“How old are you?” Alex asked.

“I’m 15. What about you guys?” he replied and asked.

“We’re 13” Alexis replied. Let’s spy on them” Alexis suggested.

Ryan and Alex instantly agreed. The trio made their way to the kitchen and spied on their parents on their doorway. Richard and Alice were cooking and with the blush and smile on Alice’s face it was assumed that Richard was teasing her.

“Enough spying. Let me show you around” Ryan said and led the twins away from the kitchen. The tour ended in Ryan’s room where they hung out till it was time for lunch.

After a few weeks, both families met for dinner in the Miller’s house. Ryder had no choice but to be present. After dinner, the twins showed Ryan their hideout while Richard and Alice stayed in the living room to watch TV.

Ryder didn’t want to hang out with any of the parties and stayed in the kitchen busy with his phone. After an hour and half, they called the children together.

“We’ve decided to get married in the middle of next month.” Richard announced. The children exchanged glances.

“Why so soon?” Alex questioned with no emotion in his voice.

“I’ve been transferred to a small town in the north. I’m expected to resume in two months and I have the next month off to prepare for my transfer. So we decided to get married and move at once to Springfall." Richard said.

The twins and Ryan nodded and Alice smiled lightly. The twins were ignoring her but she was glad they didn’t object to her marrying someone.

“We’ll move immediately after the wedding to Springfall. We will go for a honeymoon of one week and spend one week together as a family before the pressure of work sets in.” Alice said.

Ryder was visibly angry and Richard was ready for his objection but not the words that came out of his mouth.

“I hate you” Ryder said with so much venom in his voice. Everyone at the table froze and he left the house very much angry.
Richard wanted to call off the wedding, Alice agreed but the children didn’t.

“I’ll try to talk to Ry” Ryan assured.

“He can go ahead and marry her. I don’t care anymore.” Ryder had said to Ryan.

“Whether or not you marry Alice, Ry doesn’t care” Ryan said to his dad. That hurt Richard and he didn’t know what to do to satisfy all parties but after a discussion, they carried on with the wedding.
