#10 dinner

Esme's Pov:

It's been a week since I got Gwen's number, I haven't spoken to her since. Mainly because I have been avoiding her.

I've also been debating on texting her, but I can never figure out what to say like it would be weird if I just text her randomly with no reason. So, I've basically been writing out different drafts of what I want to send her but just end up erasing it and rewriting it a bit differently later.

I am writing probably like the 7th version of my text now. When suddenly my door is flung open making me look up from my phone and to my sister Scarlett who is looking at me annoyed.

My sister is 26 we have never been really close, but we still get along, she's very favorited by our parents, I'm always compared to her no matter what I do it's always been like that no matter how old i was, it makes sense though she's always been the smart one and is now works as a professional model. but I never hated her for it. She's been with me through a lot and has helped me a lot.

She's got two kids Lilith and Mason, there 4 and 5, they're the sweetest and I love to be around them. She's got a fiancé; his name is Cole, and they have been together for almost 10 years off and on. He proposed to her 4 years ago and ended up waiting to get married until Lilith was older. I still don't know when they are going to get married, but I have a feeling that it will be here soon.

"I was calling for you downstairs. I was starting to think you were dead." she tells me shaking her head and leaning on the door frame.

"Oh, sorry I didn't hear you." I tell her looking back at the text I've written out for Gwen before erasing, turning my phone off and throwing it on my nightstand before getting up and hugging Scarlett.

"Well, who were you talking to that distracted you so much?" she asks, hugging me back.

"Noone, I was just watching something." I say pulling away unsure as to why I felt like I needed to lie to her, even though I necessarily wasn't talking to anyone, so I'm technically not lying.

"Do you have a crush?" she asks, examining my facial expressions making me scrunch my nose in confusion.

"What no I have a boyfriend" I tell her rolling my eyes

"That doesn't mean anything" she says shrugging her shoulders before walking out of my room and down the stairs without giving me any room for augment.

I follow behind her in hopes to ask her what she meant but before i could even walk into the living room I feel little arms wrap around my legs making me stop and look down just to see lilith and mason's brown eyes looking up at me making me smile at them before bending down to give them a proper hug.

"I missed you guys" I tell them, pulling away to look at their smiling faces.

"I missed you to" they both say in sink

"Mommies got something to tell you, may" Lilith says pointing to her mom and dad who are now standing behind them holding hands.

"Does she?" I say, standing up and walking towards them with a confused look.

"We want to ask you something." Cole says to me, making me nod

"Ok, so we decided to get married next month, and I wanted to ask you if you would be one of my bridesmaids?" scarlet says looking at me hopefully while grabbing onto Cole's bicep.

"Umm yes" I say excitedly grabbing them both and giving them a hug

"Thank you, may. also, we are all going to dinner to celebrate so go get ready you have like 15 minutes before dad gets back and will want us to leave." she tells me pulling out of the hug then walking into the kitchen with Cole following behind.

I walk past the little ones who are playing with their toys on the floor and walk up the stairs to get ready. I head into my closet looking around for something to wear. I eventually settled on a white sundress. I put my hair half up with a pin pulling out a few strands of hair in the front.

I put on some perfume and Mascara before grabbing my purse and walking downstairs. I get downstairs and see everyone talking and laughing getting along making me smile a bit but become a bit upset remembering my mom isn't here to enjoy this with us.

"Is everyone ready?" I question before I let myself dwell on the feeling. Everyone answers by saying yes or walking out the door, the little ones start screaming and jumping up and down excitedly.

We all go outside and separate into two cars Scarlett, Cole and mason in one me Lillith and my dad in the other.

After about a 10-minute drive that was full of questions about school, we finally made it to the restaurant. It isn't fancy but it isn't like a fast-food place either. It's kind of busy but luckily, we made a reservation, so we don't have to wait.

My dad Lilith and I all went in to get our sets and wait for the other three considering we somehow beat them here.

"We have a reservation it should be under Lawrence" My dad says to the lady at the front.

"Ok, follow me, '' she says, grabbing some menus and leading us to our sets. I grab Lilith's little hand making sure she doesn't get lost on the way to the table.

The kind lady puts our menus down and walks off telling us our waiter should be with us soon. I noticed that there were two highchairs at the booth as requested, so I put Lilith in one before sitting down across from my father and starting to look through the menu.

"May, may" Lillith says, getting my attention making me look away from the menu and to her.

"Lil" I say to her she points at the booth behind me about to say something but before she could I grab her hand "It's rude to point at people lil" she nods and I go back to reading my menu not paying any mind to the people she was pointing at too embarrassed to even say anything.

"Sorry we took forever Cole took a wrong turn and got lost" Scarlett says walking up and putting Mason in the highchair next to Lilith who starts to play with him by giving one of her barbies to him so he could play with her.

"It's ok" my dad says as Cole sits next to him and Scarlett sits next to me.

"What can I get you guys to drink?" a female voice asks making me look up at her to answer but no words come out I just unintentionally look over her features She's got her dark brown hair put up into a high bun letting her undercut show and a few strands of hair sticking out, she's got a sharp jawline, green eyes, no makeup but clear skin, my eyes drop down to her body she's wearing a pair of brown khakis and a black t-shirt that hugged her arms, showing her muscles, and tattoos that run down both arms.

"May" my father's voice says making me snap to him and away from the girl

"What do you want to drink" he says to me looking disgusted

"Can-can I-I umm just have a sweet tea?" I Question looking back at the lady blushing out of embarrassment

"Mhm, I'll be out with your drinks in a minute" she says, giving me one last glance then walking off.

I look back at the table and everyone is giving me weird looks,

"What?" I question feeling defensive.

"Nothin '' Cole and Scarlett both say sink looking back at their menus, but my dad just continues to look at me disgusted.

"I'm going to go use the bathroom." I say to them all ignoring my dad's glares and walk off to the bathroom.

I open the door and walk to the mirror, turning the water on and splashing it in my face hearing someone enter in the process just thinking that it's someone coming in to use the bathroom. I just ignore it but when I look back into the mirror, I make eye contact with the one and only Gwen.
