Joshua sat on the edge of the hospital bed, his gaze fixed on the peeling paint on the wall. The news he'd just received echoed in his mind, a heavy weight that seemed to crush his spirit. He knew he was sick, of course, but the starkness of the prognosis, the cold, hard number of days left, had hit him like a physical blow.
His mind raced, trying to process the information, to find a way to make sense of it. He thought of his family, his friends, but most of all seokmin the love of his life. A wave of sadness washed over him, followed by a flicker of anger. Why him? Why now? He felt a deep sense of injustice, a feeling that life had dealt him an unfair hand, why when he is happy? Why when they are happy? Is God that much cruel to do this to them.
‘you have a maximum of fifteen days to live’ the doctor voice keep echoing in his headHe imagined a future with Seokmin, one filled with laughter and love, a beautiful future he can’t have no more. They had plans, dreams, a life they were building together. And now, it was all threatened. The thought of not being able to see Seokmin grow old, to experience the joys of parenthood, to simply not be able to spend more time with the man he loved, was almost unbearable.
Tears welled up in his eyes as he realized the preciousness of time. He had taken it for granted, never imagining that it could be so fleeting. Now, he craved more time, desperately wanted to make the most of the days he had left. He wanted to create more memories with Seokmin, to tell him how much he loved him, to simply be there for him.
Joshua's heart ached with all the pain he is feeling inside. He wanted to break down, to scream how unfair all of this is. He wanted to blame God, to question why this was happening to him. But he knew he couldn't afford that luxury. Time was ticking away, and he had only a handful of days to make a lifetime of memories with Seokmin.
As he looked out the window, watching the world go by, he felt a pang of sadness. One day he wouldn’t wake up to see the sunrise seokmin loved to watch with him, never feel the warmth of the sun on his skin as seokmin hug his waist telling him how much he loves him. But in that moment, he also felt a sense of determination. He would love Seokmin with all his might, and he would leave this world knowing that he had given everything because seokmin do deserve everything, every good thing this world has to offer he deserve it all.
He would cherish every moment, every touch, every word. He would make these fifteen days count, more than any other time in his life.
Joshua reached for his phone, his fingers trembling slightly. He dialed Jeonghan number, his best friend.
"Jeonghan?" Joshua asked, his voice barely a whisper.
"joshuji? What's up?" Jeonghan replied, his voice full of concern.
"Where are you?" Joshua asked.
"I'm at home. Why?" Jeonghan replied.
"Are you alone?" Joshua asked.
"Yeah, why? Is everything okay?" Jeonghan asked, his voice starting to panic.
"I need to talk to you. Can I come to your house?" Joshua asked.
"Sure, but What's wrong?" Jeonghan asked.
"I'll explain when I get there," Joshua said, his voice breaking.
"Okay, joshuji. Drive safely okay I will wait," Jeonghan said.
Joshua hung up the phone, his heart heavy with the weight of his news. He knew he had to tell someone, and Jeonghan was the only person he trusted and are closes to after seokmin. He just hoped that Jeonghan could handle the news, he know how hard it will be for him too after all him and jeonghan basically grow up together, he didn’t want to dump the news on jeonghan first but he can’t found the courage in him to tell seokmin.
