Chapter Two - The New Crew
I guess that when I walked outside, I was expecting that my thermometer was wrong, and that it was actually really nice and warm. My stupid imagination. I walked outside, and I instantly scowled at myself for wearing such thin clothing. But then I realised that I wouldn't need thick layered clothing, because this was training. And training always considered of doing something that will make me sweat and whine. But then again, it would take a lot of me to warm up, as it was below 10 degrees. Well, shit.
My body was telling me to stop what I was doing, and just go back inside. But I knew that Walker would probably drag me back out. Bastard. I sighed, forcing myself to not let my teeth chatter. I hugged myself to keep warm, and then I saw Walker a few feet in front of me, and I dropped my arms to my side.
Walking over to him, he smirked at me. I stared at him, or rather, at what he was wearing. Shouldn't he be cold?! He was a Goddamn human! Walker wore a black singlet, along with cargo pants that didn't look very warming, and his usual black combat boots. I remembered how many times he had kicked me down with those things, and I shuddered at the memories. Nasty.
'What are we doing today?' I asked, trying to keep the strain out of my voice. He smirked at me again, which caused a flare inside of me. Then behind it came worry. Shit. I knew that look in his eyes. We were going to be doing something that we had never done before. Ugh. Kill me now. Then again, I might already be dead when Walker tells me what we'll be doing today.
'Something new,' he answered me. Fuck. I freaking knew it. I casted my eyes over to where he reached into his pocket, and then gasped at what he pulled out. I instantly jumped back, my hands casting dark shadows inside. What the hell was he thinking? Bring one of those to training. Idiot! I glared up at him, my eyes narrowed deeply.
'What the hell were you thinking when you brought that here?!' I yelled, the shadows in my hands flickering at my anger. I clenched my jaw together, shaking my head.
'Calm down, Little. It's not the real thing. Just a replica,' Walker said calmly, holding the red-handled knife in his hand. The blade gave off a light red glow, which marked it as dangerous and deadly. I knew what those things were. I had read about those knives, and I knew that they bring nothing but pain. The knives were deadly because they were a Sketchers weapon, and they were dangerous against Darkers. When the blade of the knife actually hit a Darker, a liquid would release itself from the blade, and pass through our body. That liquid would then paralyse us for a short amount of time, but that time was enough for the Sketcher to kill us.
'A replica? Are you fucking kidding me, Walker?! Just answer one question: Will it hurt me?' Walker seemed to consider this--while ignoring my swears.
'Yes, it will. But it won't hurt you. If it stabs you, it will hurt, but there is no paralysation-liquid in this. It will just cut you. But here's our training today, Little. You need to know what you're up against, and I'm going to teach you. I might not be a Sketcher, but I know how they attack and defend. You need to dodge my attacks, or attack back. During this process, all of the powers you throw at me will hit me, but I won't feel a thing,'
'Thats not fair, Walker!' I exclaimed loudly. 'You are protected, while I am not. That is highly stupid and selfish!' My voice was--even I have to admit--whiney. I hated my whiney voice, but it came at times like this.
'You are a Darker, Little. You have a higher advantage, so the knife--if it stabs you--is hardly going to affect you. You may bleed, but you're not going to die,' he said, scoffing, as though the thought of me feeling pain was stupid. Well, guess what asshole?! I do feel pain!
'Ugh. Whatever, Walker. You're gonna pay for this afterwards,' I threatened.
'You won't have to if you don't get hit by the knife,' he pointed out, which made me scowl. Asshole. 'Okay, you ready?' I nod.
