Flashing lights, and we...

Exploring with my sister is not exactly my favourite things. She's always on edge (which is understandable given out current location) as if something might jump out and murder us.

A twig snaps.

"Gah!- Ella!"

I chuckle, amused by her jumpy attitude.

"You shouldn't be so malicious." Emma scolded, her voice like a mother scolding their child.

"Yes, yes, I know. But there was a fun kick out of it, Em."

"Ella, we're in Neverland." Emma reminds me, standing up straighter.

"Mhm... I think I got that." I joke, gesturing to the wild canopy of forest, "There's never anything other than trees."

"And the wild animals," Emma points out.

I pause, "Well, true, but we haven't seen one since yesterday."

Emma winced at the memory, the hand subconsciously going to her arm. I chuckle slightly at the bittersweet memory.

"Plus, aren't we here to trade something in with Pan?"

Emma gives me a pointed look, "Yes, but we can never be so sure..."

"Leave it to your boyfriend to pollute your mind with his superstitions." I chide, sending her a sly smile.

Her face turns red, "He's not my boyfriend-"

"Yet." I finish, proud at myself for making her flustered.

"We need to hurry," She states, deflecting my comment and sending it to the back of the line.

"Right..."

"Anyway, let's go..." Emma points out, her face still as red as a tomato.

"Cool..."

We have a stand off before Emma breaks eye contact and we're on our way again. I grin.

Ella, 1. Emma, 0.

As we feel deeper into the forest a deep sense of uncertainty plagued me. Something was wrong.

It wasn't just this place being dangerous even though flashing lights go off in my head with each step.

I had a feeling something was about to go so wrong, yet so right.
