Nian Ci!

Shen Luoyan instinctively looked at her niece.

This was her elder brother's only descendant!

Seeing Shen Nianci, who was terrified and crying, Shen Luoyan's heart softened.

Wei Shuang quickly ran over to pick up her daughter, tears streaming down her face as she pleaded, "Luoyan, we can die, but Nianci is not even seven years old!"

Looking at her niece's tear-streaked face, Shen Luoyan slowly unclenched her fists.

Thump!

Shen Luoyan knelt down, tears of sorrow and anger streaming down her cheeks.

"This subject... receives the decree and expresses gratitude."

At the moment she uttered these words, Shen Luoyan felt as if all her strength had been drained.

Only after Shen Luoyan accepted the decree did Mu Shun's expression soften slightly.

"Then this servant will return to the palace to report. As for the wedding date, it will be announced later!"

Mu Shun then looked at Yun Zheng, "Sixth Prince, let's return to the palace."

"Supervisor Mu, please go back first. I'll talk to them."

Yun Zheng gave a slight smile and continued, "Supervisor Mu, Miss Shen acted impulsively today. Please speak well of her before the Emperor."

"Understood."

Mu Shun chuckled and then left with his entourage.

Once Mu Shun left, everyone's gaze fell on Yun Zheng again.

"Don't think that saying a few insincere words will make me grateful to you!"

Shen Luoyan looked at Yun Zheng with disgust, showing no respect for his status as a prince.

"I didn't expect your gratitude."

Yun Zheng shook his head with a smile, "If it weren't for your young niece, I would hope you defy the decree. Then, I could plead with the Emperor to let you join me in death in Shuobei."

"Who wants to die with you?"

Shen Luoyan snorted, wiping away her tears, but then paused, "Wait, you said you're going to... die in Shuobei?"

Madame Shen and the two daughters-in-law were stunned, momentarily forgetting their disdain for Yun Zheng.

"Yes."

Yun Zheng nodded lightly, speaking with self-deprecation, "The Emperor has appointed me as General Hule. After our wedding, I will head to Shuobei. Not for glory, but to boost the morale of our soldiers with my death..."

What?

Upon hearing Yun Zheng's words, the women's faces changed.

Madame Shen was so shocked that she slumped into her chair.

Yun Zheng was going to Shuobei to die?

That would mean Shen Luoyan would become a widow before she even married!

The Emperor was sending this useless prince to die to boost morale but also arranging a marriage for him and Shen Luoyan?

Was the Emperor trying to turn the Shen family into a house of widows?

Did he want all the women of the Shen family to become widows?

Suddenly, Madame Shen slapped the table forcefully.
