"This is their first High Lord meeting, Nyx, and they can't go in unprepared. You have so much experience with this stuff, you have to help them!" Feyre begged her son. In the lounge room of the townhouse sat Nyx's sister and cousins, all completely unprepared for what awaited them tomorrow.
"I feel like I should have had more warning, you totally threw this on me." Nyx whined. "And I was going to go out with Mak!"
"Your boyfriend can wait, Nyx. Please, this is serious!"
Nyx pursed his lips. "Fine, but you so owe me!"
"Thank you! I do, I so owe you. How about I take you to get that weapons belt you wanted when we get home?"
Nyx grinned.
A knocking sounded on the door of the house. Through the stained glass windows and the antechamber, Nyx could see the familiar silhouette of the beautiful brunette he had been seeing for a few weeks.
He pushed open the door.
"Hey! Ready to go?" Mak grinned broadly.
"I'm so sorry, I have to cancel. Mama just told me I have to prepare my cousins for the meeting tomorrow. I didn't even know they were coming!"
"What! Urgh, I really wish your mother wasn't High Lady."
"I know, I'm sorry. But I'll see you when I get back, okay, in a few days!"
Mak grumbled, but relented. After giving Nyx a kiss on the cheek, he was gone.

Nyx strolled into the Lounge room, carefully folding up his wings to sit in his favorite armchair. Beside him sat his sister Keelie, who had just got back from Windhaven, where she had been training. She was unwinding her chin length hair from the tight bun she kept it in while she talked to their cousin, Nesta and Cassian's daughter, Mira. Beside Mira on the couch sat her twin, Cash, discussing methods of fishing with Delmar, Amren and Varian's daughter, who was brushing her frizzy white hair a comb made of bone.
Sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace was the fiery haired Chrissy showing the tiny Kai, Azriel and Gwyn's son, how to knit.
Pursing his lips, Nyx clapped three times, and all his cousins looked to him.
"Okay, I canceled a date with Mak for this, so if you waste my time, I will kill all of you."
"How is Mak?" Keelie gave him a winning smile.
"You don't ever ask that. What happened? Devlon beat some manners into you?"
"I was curious!"
"No you weren't, you suck up!" Keelie planted a kick to his ankle.
"Okay, where was I?" Nyx rubbed at his leg.
"Threatening us!" Delmar supplied.
"Oh yeah, you can talk..." He muttered under his breath. His somewhat bloodthirsty cousin narrowed her eyes at him. "Since it is the first High Lord meeting you will all be attending, I have been asked to give you a lesson on etiquette."
"First cardinal rule, don't start an argument with Autumn. Yes, maybe Eris is a better High Lord than Beron, but his temper is shorter than Chrissy."
"Hey!" The small girl cried.
"While were on you, do not talk to your uncles, Chris. Or even look at them, or breath in their direction, you know this. Uncle Lulu surely told you that."
"He doesn't like it when you call him that." Keelie said matter-of-factly.
"And I don't like cancelling dates to teach ungrateful people, still happens though. Can't I just finish what I'm saying so I can have a chance of catching him?"
"Sorry, Nyx." Echoed around the room.
"Thank you. Second rule, do not interrupt a High Lord, no matter how bad their opinion is. That ones a hard one. Third, always bow, and always accept food and drink. Last rule, possibly most important. Tamlin is hosting this year, and we hate him. Do not talk to him, or make him angry. He likes to steal wings."
The Illyrians in the room shuddered.
"And this ones for you, Keelie." Nyx turned to his sister. "Do not, under any circumstances, sleep with Eris's son again. No- I don't care how hot he is, you can't do it again."
